Today, my computer starting running scan disk over and
over again. A tool bar appeared out of nowhere that shows
a "scanpm" and scanpm.exe file. I can't seem to get rid of
it and my computer keeps crashing. I ran scandisk
standard check in safemode. When I tried to run a thorough
check, it said that it keeps restarting because a program
is running in the background. I can't figure out what is
running. I also ran McAfee in safemode to check for
viruses. It found no infected files. Then,I tried to do a
system restore, but it said there was insufficient space.

I don't know what this scanpm is or where it came from.
It seems to be a dos program.

Can anyone help.

"SCANPM.EXE" is the DOS-mode scanner in your McAfee software. You may want
to check their Web site to see if they can offer any suggestions.

ScanPM.EXE is a commandline antivirus scanner for DOS. It's part of McAfee
VirusScan. Check out NetWork Associate's web site for more info.
