Reboot. If your machine is booting into Safe Mode on it's own, follow the
troubleshooting steps offered. Post back with any questions and details of
indications.
Heirloom, old and not very safe

Are you sure that it really is in Safe Mode? It *may* just be the wrong
screen resolution.

Does it say 'Safe Mode' in each corner of the display?

If you are sure that it is in Safe Mode, what happens when you shut-down and
re-boot?

Does it automatically run Scandisk?
Does it then attempt to start in Normal Mode?

Have you got the 'Enable Startup Menu' box set in msconfig? Run
msconfig.exe and on the General tab, select Advanced and uncheck the 'Enable
Startup Menu' box.

If only (very) recent, have you tried running System Restore?

Is there any way to have CD drives available in Safe Mode?
