Can only start in safe mode, but need to run system restoration CD's to get my computer working again. I understand that CD-ROM drivers aren't loaded in safe mode. Is there any way to get a CD to run? System restore does not work.

Boot to DOS with CD support using your boot floppy and then run your restore
CDs. BTW are you sure that you restore CDs aren't bootable? Since your
restore CDs were produced by the manufacturer of your computer rather than
Microsoft and vary from manufacturer to manufacturer may I strongly recommend
that you read the documentation supplied by the manufacturer that came with
the CDs.

I booted to DOS with CD support .. says cd-rom is located in Drive E. Now it wants a DOS prompt - it's giving me A:\
I'm running out the door, but grabbed my manufacturer books to check while I'm out.

Well that's what you wanted isn't it? You've got your DOS prompt and you can
see your recovery CD. Hopefully the manual will tell you how now to proceed.

Best of luck,
