the product key number sticker on my HP computer case is different than the
product key number in the registry, wonder why ?

Your system was installed by HP from an image used on hundreds if not
thousands of systems. If you need to reinstall use your personal ID. You may
find that you cannot reinstall Win Me using the number HP used when creating
the original system image.
