I am working on a friend's machine housing WME. I don't personally
use WME, and so, I don't recognize some things.

Having said that - how do I get WME to automatically play a music CD
in Media Player, when I load the disk? I want the disk to start
playing automatically.

Thanks

In Media Player 9, Tools: Options: File Types, check Music CD Playback

Also, I bet Autorun must be enabled for the drive.

It doesn't have v9. It has v7.

I did that - to no avail.

Jethro.....any particular reason you can't fire up WMP manually to play
it?? Obviously version 7 is not going to do it automatically.

I had a look at WMP 10 on my XP machine and could not see ANYWHERE in
Options, etc. that one could enable it to do that. OTOH, I have a box
that comes up and asks me what I would like to do with the CD....

IOW....don't waste your time sweating the small stuff, grin.

Cheers....Heather

Yes, I did, and yes it plays, and yes 7 does not do it automatically.

It may be that the CD drive on my friend's machine simply does not
provide auto play capability, especially since I do not see that
option for the CD drive in her WME's Device Manager.

Jethro:

My WinME system plays the CD automatically, but I have the Media Player 9.
Don't know whether it makes a difference.
In properties for the CD-ROM via >Start>Settings>Control
Panel.>System>Device Manager
In properties "Digital CD Playback" is enabled and under Settings "Auto
insert notification" checked.
See if this helps.

Harry.

Just a thought - does the machine have TweakUI installed (in the control
Panel)?

If so, then under the Paranoia tab, there is a further selective option to
turn autoplay off. However, I'm a little surprised that the option is not
showing in DevMan.
