My WinME system plays the CD automatically, but I have the Media Player 9.
Don't know whether it makes a difference.
In properties for the CD-ROM via >Start>Settings>Control
Panel.>System>Device Manager
In properties "Digital CD Playback" is enabled and under Settings "Auto
insert notification" checked.
