McAfee FreeScan

Ok. Gus, try this:

Go to Start>Settings>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs. Highlight Microsoft
Internet Explorer and click Add/Remove...Select "Repair" and "Ok". Restart
when done.
When returning to the internet, use your IPS's browser, not IE and go to
"Windows Update" to update your IE.
See if this helps.
More on this subject (lexplore.dll) is to be found at "Annoyances.org".

Harry.

Gus....ignore Harry's post and wait for Noel or Mike to answer shortly.

Harry.....you have to use IE to access Windows Update, period!! Just so you
realize that. And I don't know what you mean by *your ISP's
browser*.....care to explain?

I am fully aware of this discrepancy.
The suggestions are an exerpt from the "Annoyances.org" forum, not my own

I would suggest you stop offering *advice* until you learn a thing or two
about your own computer, for starters.

You say you were *fully aware* of this discrepancy, yet you posted it
anyway. Give your head a shake!!

If it is LEXPLORE.EXE is cold be the following ...
W32/Mugly.d@MM -- http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_130781.htm

Download MULTI_AV.EXE from the URL --
http://www.ik-cs.com/programs/virtools/Multi_AV.exe

It is a self-extracting ZIP file that contains the Kixtart Script Interpreter {
http://kixtart.org Kixtart is CareWare } three batch files, five Kixtart scripts, one Link
(.LNK) file, a PDF instruction file and two utilities; UNZIP.EXE and WGET.EXE. It will
simplify the process of using; Sophos, Trend and McAfee Anti Virus Command Line Scanners to
remove viruses, Trojans and various other malware.

C:\AV-CLS\StartMenu.BAT -- { or Double-click on 'Start Menu' in C:\AV-CLS}
This will bring up the initial menu of choices and should be executed in Normal Mode. This
way all the components can be downloaded from each AV vendor?s web site.
The choices are; Sophos, Trend, McAfee, Exit the menu and Reboot the PC.

You can choose to go to each menu item and just download the needed files or you can
download the files and perform a scan in Normal Mode. Once you have downloaded the files
needed for each scanner you want to use, you should reboot the PC into Safe Mode [F8 key
during boot] and re-run the menu again and choose which scanner you want to run in Safe
Mode. It is suggested to run the scanners in both Safe Mode and Normal Mode.

When the menu is displayed hitting 'H' or 'h' will bring up a more comprehensive PDF help
file.

To use this utility, perform the following...
Execute; Multi_AV.exe { Note: You must use the default folder C:\AV-CLS }
Choose; Unzip
Choose; Close

Execute; C:\AV-CLS\StartMenu.BAT
{ or Double-click on 'Start Menu' in C:\AV-CLS }

NOTE: You may have to disable your software FireWall or allow WGET.EXE to go through your
FireWall to allow it to download the needed AV vendor related files.

* * * Please report back your results * * *

Harry......stop acting like a petulant, whining 2-year-old. You were wrong
and I corrected you.

In fact, a lot of people have had to correct the bad advice you give, so I
am not alone in this. How many times do you have to be told??

I would plonk you, except for the fact that you give such appallingly bad
advice that someone has to jump in and tell you to shut up.....before you
screw up someone's computer!!

I have neither the time nor the interest to listen or respond to your
childish remarks, so puss orf and go bug someone else.

| Didn't think you would have, Dave.
| Forgot to mention that I was not familiar with the Hebrew wording of the

I hope so for me fellow citizens. I already have one good friend who lost his business,
"Brian's Bayou Adventure", and his home in Katrina. He had to move back up to Jersey 'cause
he had nothing left in Delacroix La.

Dave:

These latest hurricanes have quite devastating consquences, don't they?
Makes you wonder whether there is any connection to Al Qaeda whatsoever. But
they wouldn't have been able to create this kind of destruction themselves.
The only other explanation is the involvement of a higher power, trying to
tell us something. And that's a hard pill to swallow for this *proud*
nation, isn't it?

Harry.
