I don't expect that you'll see this, Jack, but thanks so
much for responding. The setup.txt file on the Win ME CD
had all the answers I was looking for. For future
reference, copying the installation files to the hard disk
and installing from there is ALWAYS the preferred method
for installing Win ME. It's a piece of cake and only
requires copying 176 MB of files to the hard drive. The
rest of the Win ME CD is just garbage. This procedure
provides an absolutely clean boot for installation and
eliminates many common problems. Thanks again.
