Any time I try to open desktop explorer programs..i.e.My Documents, Windows
Explorer, etc., I get an error message telling me error in some .dll file. If
problem persists restart my PC. I have had this issue for a while and there
is no virus, no spyware, PC is defraged adn scanned. Anyone have a thought as
to what may be causing this?

Not much to go on, but it might help if you were to tell us which .dll file
your error messages refer to. Please give the EXACT error message.

If the error message does really refer to "###.dll" then it is very likely
that you do have some sort of malware on your PC and you need to locate the
file (presumably called ###.dll) and determine what it is from its
properties - and remove - or at least isolate - it until you know what it is
and what it belongs to.

> Any time = Every time??

As it has been happening for a while, do you remember making any changes
(adding new software/hardware) prior to this problem first occurring.

It starts with Kernel files and goes from there. There is never 1 specific
file name...but always a .dll file. There are no new files or programs. This
is a networked PC and neither PC on the network has anything new. I have had
this issue for a few months now and it happens 90% of t he time when I try to
open My Documents and the other programs. I have gone through everything I
can think of. My virus program (AVG) and SpySweeper run the entire time my PC
is on. I am firewalled through Microsoft and through my Router, which is
Microsoft also. I use WinCleaner, defrag and scan at least once a week. I've
gone to PCPitstop, AntiVirus.com and anywhere else I could think to make sure
my programs were working correctly. No bad sectors on the hard drive, no
corrupt files, no fragments. I am at a complete loss and that has lead me
here. Thanks for the response! Any thoughts?

dmm1963:
Assuming your version of IE is 6, the problem doesn't seem to be due to
faults with itself.
Could it be one or more missing dlls'?
When receiving the error message, press Alt+D and see what the given
information tells you.
A last resort may be a most recent SR. before the occurrence.

> It starts with Kernel files and goes from there.

Then there's a reasonable chance that it is hardware related issue (are any
of the other .dll's mentioned which are associated with your hardware
items?)

For starters, take a look at "Explorer Has Caused an Error" or "IPF" Error
Message When You Attempt to View Printer Properties :-
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306321/en-us

Although yours may or may not be printer related, it might give you a clue
as to where to start looking. You could try disconnecting and reconnecting
items of external hardware (one at a time) to see if you can pinpoint
anything.

It might also be worth searching for the string "explorer caused an error"
using a selective search on the MS Knowledge Base for WinMe. There are quite
a few potential suspects.

Well, that's a start <g> See especially 'Symptoms' in :-
