I hate the Search Dialog Box for it runs in a Win 95 style. I wish the
Search DB has some sort of memory in order to retain at least the last
searched string and the last dir used. Any help?

Agent Ransack. Best to stop sodding about with Windows built-in search tools
and install Agent Ransack:
