    - Cannot update Windows Update I have been trying to use the Windows Update but it won't give me anything after I click, "Scan for Updates." It just sits there and has the word "Done" on the bottom. I did update some of the critical updates yesterday but think I still have a few more to go and I have never downloaded any for ME yet.     - Loading file"Rundll32" several (3-4) times When my computer starts acting up, and I hit the ctrl+alt+delete buttons, on the screen it shows that Rundll32 file has loaded several times. I don't know why it's doing this, but it keeps doing it. I can usually end task two of them without a problem, but the other two it's a draw as to which one is working on the program I'm using and on occasion I pick the wrong one, which starts up a whole new thing where I have to exit everything and restart my computer to continue working. I have run every virus scan available and it never finds anything. I have Norton Antivirus/System works, which updates almost daily, so I should have good protection. Can anyone help?     - Error Message I keep getting this error message: WINDOWS ERROR File Name: VWIN32 (05) + 000012DO Error: OE : 0028 : C02A44A8 What does it mean, and how do I FIX it? Also having problems with Internet Explorer causing problems (caused error ; needs to close); and at startup of computer, will pull up blue wallpaper, but NOT load my desktop - cursor will change to hourglass and spin there for hours. Have to close down manually and restart in safe- mode, to get it to start up. Have icons moving on desktop by themselves, etc., etc. Have run virus scans and thorough scans for errors to fix to NO avail. On occasion it will say that a short cut is wrong or not valid, or there will be a file out of place or missing, and I fix it. Will run good for a few days, then start with the problems again. Also - while on cartoonnetwork.com, it downloaded one page which said "NO PAGE AVAILABLE" over and over and over again - I finally got it to quit, and ran all tests again, to no avail, but it said Explorer had a problem - couldn't send report to Microsoft as it froze in the middle of it.     - pop-up message at startup I'm running Windows ME and the past two days I get a message when I boot my pc it reads (The shortcut "My web search E-mail Plugin,ink' refers to a location that is unavailable.     - shortcut bar not responding, applications not responding I have a Sony Vaio laptop with Windows ME. 1) When I start up, the Microsoft Office Shortcut Bar will open, but not respond ( CTRL ALT DEL to get to task manager and see that it is not responding) 2)I have about 20-25 different items listed in the task manager as running...however I have not opened any applications, I just turned the machine on. I have to close half of them to "unlock" the computer. 3)My programs options from the start button are missing things like Accesories-defrag, etc...Where they went who knows! In order to perform scan disk, I had to go into safe mode and let it scan disk last night. I plan to scan disk on my d drive as well tonight and defrag both as well...in safe mode. What else should I do? Should I do a restore? Not sure what exactly this does, but I do not want to lose my existing software programs I have loaded or files... Any help would be appreciated... I'm having a problem with Explorer - I can't see the content of any windows - all blank, even when exploring the net (though a sight seems to load in progress bar).     - cookies I am trying to free up some much needed space. My "cookies" folder is full of stuff I don't need (1,102 items) and 1 thing I do need (index). I have downloaded all of the critical updates from Windows and I have run both anti-virus protection and AdAware with no problems found, yet my IE frequently crashes while I am browsing the internet. All of my drivers are updated. I have tried using an alternate browser, SlimBrowse, but I still get the errors only it's "SBrowse caused" such and such error. I have read Microsoft's info on the MSHTML.DLL errors and it hasn't been useful at all. If anyone has any advice to offer I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks!     - Error messages at Startup Hello; Two error messages appear simultaneously, on the desktop, at startup. Each bears the title "Advanced INF Install". The text of each is slightly different and appears as follows: Error: could not locate INF file E:\content\Win9x\winme\WMEfinish.inf Error: could not locate INF file E:\content\Win9x\winme\WMEsetRP.inf Clicking OK on the error message causes it to disappear, only to appear again at next startup. The machine appears to function OK otherwise. The machine is behind a NetGear router and is protected by AVG 6.0, Ad-aware and Spybot.     - Help Please With Virus Cleanup I've just managed to remove a terrible virus name Troj/Dumaru-X from my system. It caused a file named prntc.exe to load into Windows. I was only able to delete this file by booting from a diskette in Dos and deleting it the old fashioned way.     - ME restarts itself Hi there, I've had an exhausting look through the posts but can't find anything similar to the following problem. A friend asked me to look at his machine as it is continually failing after only a few seconds of opperation. The machine boots up normally and enters windows ME however within a short space of time it will simply stop and restart just as if the reset switch had been hit (it isn't I disconneccted it to prove the point). My imeadiate thought was that there was some virus causing this. So I used the taskmanager type program to kill off any suspicious looking programs as they were starting. This got the machine to stay up longer and enabled me to get startup control panel installed and check the programs listed there (I got rid of all the ones I had stopped manually). However the damn thing reboots before you can download anything from the net such as spysweeper. He has a virus checked that is pretty up to date.     - problems... here's my problem, i have dell dimension 4100 w/win me.. it just started giving me problems recently...my comp would keep on rebooting (wouldn't even load win me), when it got to "Starting Windows Me", it would reboot, so i called dell techical support, they told me i had a virus so i formatted my hd, reinstalled win m thought that solved my problem, but nop i keep getting error messages when i install some software.. try to install microsoft word, when it gets to installing fonesync, "_ins576 has caused an error in KRNL386.EXE, then i get the famous "Blue Screen", and then another error "Fsetup has caused an error in Kernel32.dll", then i do hard reboot, when win me loads back up, setup screen for word comes up and clicked on install word, "Msgsrv32 has caused error in Krnl386.exe" and another error, "_delis has caused and error in Krnl386.exe try to install scanner, "MPREXE has caused an error in Kernel32.dll" then won't close so i do a hard reboo i use Flashpeak Slimbrowser as my browser, sometimes when i close it, "Sbrowser has caused an error in sbrowser.exe" then i try to reopen Slimbrowser, "Sbrowser caused an error in User.exe sometimes when i click on "Start" and try rebooting or shutdown, "Dels21winname not responding", sometimes "Avgemc not responding", and alot of the time "(no program) not responding lastly but not least.. sometimes when i do anything that has something to do with win me, like going into "Msconfig" and "Display Properties", comp crashes, the mouse was still functional but not the screen so i would do a hard reboot i had my comp since jan. 2000 and it worked fine up until a week ago i had norton antivirus 2001 on, uninstalled, put AVG on, did full scan, found nothin i even went to symantec and mcaffee websites to do a web scan, found nothin i had aol 9.0 on before format, but didn't even bother installing it back on, i do have AIM tho btw, also i get error "IPHLPAPI.DLL file cannot start" but i haven't put aol 9.0 back on after forma i tried all of the adware and spyware removers like adaware, spybot, pest patrol, spyblaster... found nothin i also have kazaa, but it's kazaa lite k++, never had a problem w/it before i formatte i also defragmented the comp, but no hel can someone help me out, plz... i'm getting frustrated w/comp Tag: usb device driver Tag: 239168

    - Crazy Mouse Help! I have a Dell laptop with built in mouse pad and external logitech trachball and microsoft trackball. My pointer will disengage from all controls and "wander" accross the screen going where ever it desires. Sometimes hitting the "control" locator key will bring it back on line, other times it will just get stuck in a corner and will take a time before it becomes usable again. Either trackball will have the same problem and sometimes the mouse pad can be used even if the external mouse (mice?). Dell has been unable to understand a fix and microsoft has not been of help either. Any ideas besides "skipping" the laptop accross the lake?     - W32Netsky I have the feeling of a drowning person. Here I thought to have everything under control, when I find out about this pesty 'W32Netsky Virus' in my system. I ran the 'McafeeAvertStinger' and it found a mess of that virus hidden in 'RESTORE\ARCHIVE\FS.CAB' files and the "Stinger" isn't taking care of them, even though I tried both, repair and delete in preferences. When I tried to delete the files myself (they are WinZip files), I was denied access, because 'the source file may be in use'. My question is: how do you delete those files? I know the FS numbers from the stinger's list. Or is there another utility which can take care of the problem? Only my C:\ drive's winzip archive files are infected, the rest is clean.     - losing connection with DSL/Win Me I'm operating Windows Me. This morning DSL through SBC Yahoo was activated. To test transfer rate compared to dialup, I went to Quicktime.com to download a trailer. 5-15 seconds (varies) into it, it cuts off, and IE (5.5) says "Could not download <file> from <server>" and "connection to web page's server was lost." I've also noticed a related phenomenon when I browse. Sometimes the page loads fully, sometimes it loads but without all the graphics, and sometimes it says "page not found". Refreshing generally gets me the whole page. If I go back through the old phone dialup, I don't get this error. I can download anything (albeit it takes longer). This only happens when connected through DSL. A similar error occurs when I try it through Netscape. But another machine connected to the same (2wire) portal, but running Windows 98, has no trouble downloading the trailer. I've talked to about half a dozen SBC or 2wire techs. They all read their scripts and have me change this and that under Internet Options, but nothing changes. For what it's worth, I can send and receive Outlook mail with no problems.     - saving attachments/folder search I just did a Windows update (last one was done in Feb!) anyway when i go to save attachments I need scroll for the proper folder (as usual) but when I want tosave another attachment in the same folder I nfind myself back to the original C drive & need to rescroll to my external hard drive & correct folder! This never happened before, I am used to scrolling to different folders when saving attachments but this is ridiculous. I have re booted, I even did a restore & nothing helps. To do this you simply create a compressed folder and right click it. Then choose the last choice which is "properties". Under the General tab it should say "opens with:".     - thnx silj and jack thnx to both. I followed up on your suggestions to no avail. But I did find a solution. I went back to hp's recovery cd's and reinstalled mmkeyboard. Problem solved. What happened was that I had went to a site re start up programs and was adamantly told to DELETE osd.exe. It said that it wasn't used for anything and could cause problems. Osd.exe is the application that runs on screen messages for netropa. Now osd is back where it was and everything works fine. Words of advice to anyone who might read this thread: Do not, I mean DO NOT delete anything until your sure it won't cause problems. Change the extensions to 'old' or quarantine. If your system seems to be working okay, then delete. No disrespect to either of you. I've gotten valuable advice from you Silj. Thanks for your dedication.     - Can't See Content of Windows - Help! My ME system is working fine except for one major problem: I cannot see the content of windows. For instance, when I click on explore, the contents of My Documents are not shown. All I see is that there are, say, 20 items in folder (as reported on the lower bar/pane of the window). The same is true for surfing the net. Using explorer, I can see a sight load on the bar, but not see the actual contents of the site - all I get is a blank page. Note, that I can surf successfully using Netscape. After getting kernel32.dll errors on closing Explorer, I decided to delete Explorer updates using Add/Remove. Upon reboot, the above problems started - blank windows. I've checked for all the latest viruses, and run the latest version of CWShredder. Again, I'm still encountering the problem. I'd love to restore, but I cannot see the add/remove programs icon because everything is invisible. How can I restore the missing component or solve the problem without reformatting?     - I Need Serious Help I have a dell computer with microsoft ME on it. Recently I downloaded windows media player from the net onto my computer because mine had been deleted. Now my computer is not doing anything! When I turn it on it does the dell sign then the windows me sign, but when it gets to the main screen it goes to an error page. The error page says: error:0E (i forgot the other numbers). It would let me do anything only ALT CTRL DELETE. Which did nothing but start that whole process over again. Since I couldn't do anything with that, I and did the step by step conformation. When it got to the one about load all drivers- I put yes. I get a series of errors such as: Nprotect caused an error in KRNL.386.EXE Scandshv.................in KRNL.386.EXE Wsup.....................in KRNL.386.EXE Stmgr....................same Wtoolsa..................same Autochk..................same Msgsrv32.................same Sometimes turning it off and back on several times will get it to finally start Windows ME, but today I had to start in safe mode. I tried to restore to several restore points, but it said it couldn't restore because no changes had been made. Tag: usb device driver Tag: 239093

my usb ant working i tried to go to safe mode and delete
the usb and then restart to let windows install the right
drivers but it could not not a file needed "usbd".
it says under device status
"the KTKERN.VXD device loader(s) for this device could not
load the device driver (code 2)"
what can i do? do i need a new driver for this?
