Getting rid of "BitDefender" resolved the error problem with "Xcommsvr".
Apparently there is an issue concerning this error message
when installing and/or using BitDefender.
One probably could find a solution for it, given the time.
I simply did not want to be burdened with it, even though the program is
quite thorough with its scanning capabilities.
Just wanted to let everyone interested know.
Especially David H. Lipman.

Harry, old and finished with this issue.

David:
After having tried the first two of your links, I wound up with the
combination of eTrust EZ Armor Antivirus and Firewall, where the Antivirus
is free for one year and the firewall being paid for after using it for 15
days.
I am very well pleased with both programs, but especially with the firewall,
because of its personal protection features.
While we are conversing, is that 'backdoor.hackarmy.1.gen' for real and, if
so, how can it be fixed?
I also posted in 'alt.comp.virus'.

Harry, old and mystified.

Hi Harry:

I searched several virus libraries for "backdoor.hackarmy.1.gen" however I got zero results,
even at Computer Associates which I assume it was eTrust that detected the Hackarmy.

I suggest is use eTrust in Safe Mode and scan your platform and to download the latest
Trend Pattern file (v2.194) and try Sysclean again in Safe Mode.

I have an additional suggestion, but for licensing reasons, I can't post it in pulic. You
can email me and I can provide you with that Command Line Scanner and a set of instructions.

Harry.....you don't have to pay for the firewall (which is Zone Alarm) in 15
days......that is only for the Pro version. EZ Armor includes the FREE zone
alarm in the package. Or simply download it.

According to my contact at EZ Trust, the free version is the latest one from
ZA. I chose not to install their firewall because I already have the pay
version of ZAPro.

Often with these *try before you buy* programs, they tell you that you are
infected or have spyware and that you have to buy the program in order to
get rid of it........and usually the malware does NOT exist.

Just another scam......Heather

I like that idea a lot better, Heather.
When I look up the so-called bad file, I wind up with the dbx files from OE
and there is nothing wrong with them, as far as I can tell.
Therefore I am going to leave it at that.
I am doing just fine without the BitDefender. That is the program which was
responsible for the Xcommsvr error message also.
Will have to be more choosey with those programs, even though they may be
recommended highly.
Thanks for your encouragement, Heather.

Harry, old and extremely fortunate.

Heather, how come they told me I did have to pay after 15 days?
My installed version of the EZFirewall is: 4.5.614.000 for both, the driver
and the true vector, whatever that means.
Will I be able to get credit, if I contacted them about it?
In trying to get in touch with support, I encountered quite a bit of
trouble, as I recall. Is there an easy or at least easier way?
I definitely like the program.

Harry, old and must have protection.

Harry......read it again. If you downloaded it from Microsoft as the free
antivirus from EZ Armor, there is NO WAY you pay for it......however, I
believe it gives you a trial run for 15 days of the PRO version of Zone
Alarm. If you don't pay, then you get the free version......which, btw, is
quite good and all you need.

I will look up the address I use here in Canada for Support at EZ Trust, but
I did go thru their website and they are very good about answering you.

MyeTrustSupport@ca.com - try that......or go to their website and find the
place to ask tech questions. I warn you now that their website is hard to
manoeuvre around in.

If that doesn't work, I will see what other addresses I have for them. I
have never had them NOT answer me in 5 years.

Good luck......Heather
