Recently, I bought a TEAC CDRW. I installed it on my PC, turned it on
and Windows ME loaded normally after correctly detecting the new CDRW.
Through the device manager, I enabled the DMA setting for the CDRW and
restarted. After this, the computer wouldn't boot.
I tried safe mode which loaded normally. I used the registry editor to
disable the DMA setting but after restarting in normal mode, windows
wouldn't load again.
I unplugged the CDRW completely, and windows started normally. Through
the registry editor again, I removed every key relevant with the TEAC
CDRW. After shutting down and re-plugging the CDRW, windows wouldn't
boot once more.
I searched through the boot log and found that "esdi_506.pdr" is
causing the problem. I even tried replacing this file with the
original from the windows ME installation CDROM but nothing happened.
Any ideas to solve this problem?
