When I recently tried to use the recovery cd's to re-install Windows ME on a
HP Pavillion machine.

Ir rand disc 1 and 2 okay, told me to remove the second disc and click Ok to
begin using Winddows ME, but when I click Ok this come come up:

VMM32.VXD, if this file is not your Pathm you may need to re-install Windows
and I try again ti use the recovery disc and end up with the same error and
Windows ME never gets started or able to us.

It would appear that your recovery CDs are either damaged or that the
re-install failed in some way. Repeat the operation until it works.
Please Note that recovery CDs such as you are using are not produced by
Microsoft but rather by the OEM involved, in this case HP, and you should
look to HP to support you in resolving your problem.

Incidentally, not that it helps, but why did you feel you had to use the
recovery CDs? I ask because it really is very unusual to have to
re-install any operating system including Win Me.
