Windows protection error

My sons computer has Windows ME. We loaded a new game on
in the program files and now we can't even bring up a
start menu to try and uninstall the game. Every time we
turn it on it gives us this message.

Windows protection error. You need to restart your
computer. System halted.

Any suggestions on how to fix the problem?

got the same problem after trying to complete critical
updates a week ago. I left my system off for a day, then
it started working. I have Me.

My system is like that since Monday. It got like that
after I was watching a DVD on the computer. First it would
not play the DVD at all, some error message was
saying "Illegal AV settings" or something like that. My
husband changed something in the settings and it worked,
but after a few times I got the blue screen and the safe
mode issue.
Now it would not start in normal mode again.
I do not know how to update the display drivers.

I had the same very annoying problem for a long time,
then one night I completely uninstalled Windows ME and
reinstalled it and I haven't the problem since. Maybe this
will fix your problem too. I hope so!
