Start with the "Computer Health" tips here:
http://aumha.org/a/health.htm
Also, make sure you have the most updated video driver -- bad video drivers
are the easiest way to get frequent freezing. If you want to test whether
this is likely the cause, go into System Properties and find the Graphic
Acceleration item. It will probably be on maximum (far to the right), as it
should be on most systems. Bring it two notches to the left. If this reduces
or removes the problem, then you most definitely need either a new video
card or a new video driver.
If all of the above doesn't solve the problem, write back with what you've
found and we'll think of something else.
