I have suddenly began getting the c:Windows folder
popping up on my screen at startup. I have looked
everywhere to find a place to tell the folder not to do
this because it is annoying. Anyone know how to fix this?

Assuming you scan your system regularly for viruses with an up to date
antivirus program, scan for unwanted "guests" here :
http://www.aumha.org/a/noads.htm

If present :
http://www.aumha.org/a/parasite.php#quickfix

If your system is clean of viruses/spyware, see if this applies :

Windows Explorer Starts When You Start Your Computer

Thanks Again

It is possible that a trojan is causing this behavior or a startup
entry. Assuming you've scanned for trojans, open the System
Configuration tool, click the Win.ini tab, click the + sign next to
windows. The "load" and "run" line should both be blank. If this is the
case, click the Startup tab and look for an entry loading Windows
Explorer or a program command that is not fully formed or incomplete
(i.e. it just says C:\PROGRA~1\<name of program folder>\<program.exe is
missing>)

If this just started occurring in the last 3-4 days you could try
utilizing System Restore to roll the system back to just prior to it's
appearance.

My pardon as not my conversation. If either load or run have something
after the equal sign, what do we do about it? My load is blank but
run=hpfsched. I don't have anything malfunctioning that I know of. Just
haven't heard anything before in this area of the msconfig. Would be nice
to become familiar with it if it helps correct problems. Thanks

It's a reminder to clean your ink-jet cartridges (really)

Hmmm...*smiles*...I have no reason to doubt you. I'm not getting any
reminder popping up or when I use the printer. Could this be due to not
having the task scheduler set to do anything? How would I clear this entry
then?

General Mailbox,

Not knowing how this software runs, I'd still lean towards it not being
dependent on task scheduler being set to run it. Just leave it alone and
you won't have to come back to this newsgroup and ask how to put the
entry back in ... if it ain't broke ... ya know the rest ;)

Probably not on the Windows Task Scheduler at all.

At a guess it pops up every x amount of weeks/months as a base figure,
plus/minus depending on printer usage: deleting or blanking out the
entry probably won't hurt anything (unless you forget to clean your
ink-jet cartridge, of course).

Since it doesn't actually stay in memory while you're using Windows (I'm
guessing here), you might as well just leave it in if only to see if it
ever actually reminds you to clean your ink-jet cartridge.
