Hi
whenever my computer is on and offline the message:
"Web page not available while offline" keeps poping up
every 5 minutes.
How do I get rid of it?

Cannot load Symantec / Norton Antivirus
I have an HP computer, PII, 350MHz, with plenty of RAM running WinME on a
home network.
I am trying to load Symantec / Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition 7.61 for
Windows 9x_NT4_2000_XP, (NAV761.exe).
Every time I try and load it I get the blue screen of death with the error:
WSIPX(01) + 00000B78 Error:00 :0028 :C16F66C8.
Does anyone have any ideas?

"NULL" message
When I try to connect to POGO games site I get this
message "you appear to be disconeccted from the Internet ,
please reconnect and go to this page for assitance.."NULL"
I have no idea how to acsess this page "NULL", also I
cannot get back onto to Internet until I first close down
the PC. POGO say they cannot help it is not a problem with
the site, and I had a PC engineer look at my PC and it is

I was on-loine, talking using AOL Instant Messenger when

A friend has an old 98 gateway which runs windows 98. They
needed help getting it internet ready. Somebody was
playing with it before I arrived and somehow came across
this error message which pops up with every start-
up...Rundll32 has caused an error in newdotnet3_23.dll.
Rundll will now close. The computer is new to the person,
so I was simply going to use the gateway disks to bring
the computer to the original configuration to start it
fresh, but the original owner can't find them. I then
thought about a reformat, but with a gateway...it has a
built in sound and video card. So I am nervous about
drivers for them. On top of it all, even with the modem
installed properly and is running properly, the computer
refuses to log on to the internet. Any help or information

Hi, I'm getting some unwanted temp files in my Windows dir with 0K size
(like >> 'fffe5fc3_{0952C58E-E759-4448-A27E-E78C815AE71C}.tmp'). How do I
redirect them from C:\Windows (or even auto delete them) because some times
these are too many.

not enough memory
OS, winme
memory 896MB
some times when my computer to run or install application
it says you dont have eough memory to run this
application, even though it has more 50% memory free.
Mother board MSI K7T pro.
Manual says it can handle up to 1.5 GB ram.
I use windows XP in same machine. it does not have problem
like that.

wireless networking in windows me
Hi, I use Win Me and Win XP in one machines.
I have Edimax wireless card.
When i connect to my AP from win xp my conection speed
superb and it does not toake long to configure.
I tried with both win XP config and card utility config.
Both working fine.
Problem:
When i installed the card with win Me. It even some times
does not identify the AP as well.
But after couple of refreshes it finds the AP.
When i connect with it it shows poor connectivity
comparing to win xp data rate like 175kbps to 30 kbps.
in the utiliy window signal strengths appear same in both

Please help me, what could cause things slowing down in ME.
I even tried reinstalling drivers no use.

Can't boot up Me
I was downloading "critical updates" from the
windowsupdate.com page. then all of a sudden, i got this
message, that popped up: Explorer has caused an error in
Browseui.dll
It told me to try restarting, which I did - same result.
I hit enter and all there is, is a black screen (not
white like this page says:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=289799)
This is running on an emachines etower 600is, so there
was no Windows Me emergency startup disk included, just
their own "restore cd". Nothing on that disk helps fix
this problem.
Anyone can try and help me get my computer back to

When I try to defragment my C drive it only completes 51%
and then starts over. This has been going on for the past

Wintrim.P virus
Got a problem with AVG/Windows/Something...
Ran the virus programme mid afternoon today and two virus detected.
They were 'Downloader.Wintrim.P' in the C:\windows\system\egdhtm~1.dll
file and 'Dialer' in the C:\windows\system\egdial.dll.
They were both successfully healed.
Ran the virus checker again and came across 'Downloader.Wintrim.P' in
the C:\_restore\temp\A0014142.cpy file and 'Dialer' in the
C:\_restore\temp\A0014143.cpy. These files were not healed and remain
on the system.
Tried deleting these files manually to no avail. They did not even
show up in Explorer and when I tried to remove the _restore file by
changing the attributes it would not let me.
Looked on the net and came across how to disable system restore and
checked the box in Mycomputer\Properties\Performance\File System. ran
AVG again and now I do not appear to have the virus but it did not
check the C:\_restore file.
I run Windows Me
What can I do? Is there a cure? Or a fix somewhere?

Shutdown
Most of the time lately when I want to shutdown at the end
of the day after the computer has been on for several
hours, it doesn't happen! I am forced to manually restart
with the reset button and re-issue the shutdown command.
Then it works. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, is
there a solution to it?

"Hit Delete to Continue"
When I power-up my computer, I get a message to "Hit
Delete to Continue" before the system will load Windows
ME. Not sure if this a problem with the software or with
my computer. Anyone have any expereince with this? I

HHCTRL.OCX error
I'm running Windows Me and Quicken 2004. When I exit
Quicken I get an error message: QW has caused an error in

Windows ME performance problem
this is a huge problem that i simply cannot fix.
Basically, whenver the computer feels like it, it begins
to freeze for a few seconds and then unfreeze, continuing
to do this over and over until shutdown. Shutdown at this
point becomes difficult because you can't really use the
mouse when this happens. If im typing, it does the same
thing. it pauses and pause in like 2-3 second intervals.
After restart, the problem goes away but will shortly
return. It doesn't matter if i'm connected to the
internet or not. Does this make any sense? please
respond with your suggestions. I would greatly appreciate

ME icons changed to the "e" symbol on desktop
For some reason any application icon that appears on my
desktop is overalapped with the "e" explorer icon. I have
tried changing the icon, disabling active desktop,
restore, icons, etc but can't get rid of it. I can still

Shutting down and restarting computer
Hi everyone,
I have in the past, received some pretty good suggestions
on how to go about fixing problems on my computer from
this site.
Well,I am now having another problem which is very
anoying.
Most of the time, when I try to perform a restart on my
computer, the system freezes up and I am forced to perform
a forced shutdown holding the power switch button untill
it shuts down.
However,If and when there is a need to perform a re-start,
I have discovered that if instead of giving my computer
the command to restart, I command it to shut down and then
manually restart it, it reboot okay most of the time, but
not all the time.
In attempting to fix this problem I have re-instaled
windows and this has not made any difference. My computer
is an 8765C HP and my microsoft updates are up to date. I
also seem to be having problems with my modem.It seems to
connect only when it feels like it(dial-up connection)and
hangs up quite freequently. I wonder if the modem problem
could perhaps be associated with the re-start problem?
Can somesone help me with this problem? Any suggestions
would be greatly aprecated.

No Start-VxD exception blue screen
I installed a DVD burner in my computer-no problems-went
to install the software for the burner (Roxio CD&DVD
Creator 6) and got message:must restart computer for
settings etc...clicked OK to restart and have since gotten
an OE exception blue screen called from 0028:C1C2AFDO in
VxD Voltrack (04)+ 00000430. Will not procede past this
point. Hitting any key as prompted results in screen going
black. Have restarted in safe mode and tried system
restore,disabling drivers in msconfig,removing roxio
program-all to no avail. Installed hard drive in a
different computer- same screen appears. I need some
advise as to a way around this problem-don't want to loose

Has anyone had this problem and have a remedy or fix? I can't find this
file in the cab files either.
I tried going into the c:\windows\inf and install off the pchealth.inf file
but that doesn't work either.

Hi everyone
I have installed all latest stuff re win update site,
including DirectX 9.0b. Been trying to play the playable
demo from the Mail last week, the lord of the rings one.
It says it cannot intall because 'unsuitable graphics
chipset' and also cannot locate my 'video card driver
(display adaptor)' their minimum requirements suggested
are:- NVIDIA, Geforce 4,3 or 2, ATI Radeon 9000,800 or
7500 or greater.?? What does that mean? Isn't it all
loaded with DirectX?? I have other stuff loaded and
playable already. Got a DVD player also and no probs.
Any suggestions?? All gratefully received. PS have loads
of space on hardrive.

BSOD auto restart
Sometimes, when I get a BSOD, it's only there for a moment and Windows

Windows ME Socket Error 10047
I have Optimum Online. I had to reinstall Windows ME to
my PC and now I cannot connect to the internet. Not only
to Optimum Online, but to AOL as well. Optimum Online had
me do an ftp and it returned a socket error 10047 (I'm
using TCP/IP). Does anyone know what I can do to correct
this?
I found a correction for this under Windows 95, but I
don't know if the solution is the same. It was for
IPX/SPX protocol and it said to extract a new copy of
Wsock32.dll file.

When I boot up my Win ME computer, I get the
message "Explorer has caused an error in urlmon.dll.
Explorer will now close."
This message will not click off, unless I click at least
10 times, and the computer is basically not working.
I was able to to a complete disk check, but the problem
remains.

VXD
Hi
I keep getting the following error on a blue screen:
Fatal Exception OE: 0028: c296dddd in vxd called from
0028: c006e6c3 in vxd. And the pc locks up so i have to
power off and then on again. I have had the same error
since alot of times but the first 0028: number changes
each time but the last 0028 number stays exactly the
same.
I have tried disabling various drivers, tried different
video cards, got the latest drivers for the video card,
which is a Geforce 2 Ti. Tried PC Bug Doctor which is
meant to fix all Windows errors!!!
Could a monitor problem cause VXD errors, that is
about
the only thing I haven't tried to change as I don't have a
spare.
Any help greatly appreciated as PC is giving this error
alot, especially when browsing the internet or opening
various windows on the desktop.
I have also tried re-installing Windows ME from
scratch on
a clean formatted disk.
