    - 0E: 019f: BFF7B018 the error code 0E: 019f: BFF7B018 is displayed and operating system loads intermittently into safe mode and occasionaly into normal mode. ME hangs and fails to boot into OS all together. Clean Boot has been tried to isolate the problem but system completely froze up so a quick restore has been performed.     - .ICO files Hi all. Have seen many times on this newsgroup, the problem of being unable to view .jpegs as thumbnails! I have the same problem, except that it is .ICO files (icons) that I am unable to view as thumbnails. The thumbnail is just a picture of the program that is used to open .ICO files, (in my case ACDSee 6.2). I have upwards of 300 icons in a folder, I would be grateful if someone could help me to be able to see a thumbnail of them again! I have tried the usual fix: REGSVR32 THUMBVW.DLL with no success, have also tried manually editing the registry and adding the .ICO file values that seem to be missing, still nada.     - Windows ME fails on startup. "a device file specified in system.ini is damaged" when I tried to reboot my Windows ME laptop this morning, it fails and gives me a mesage that "a device file specified in system.ini is damaged". further it says "may need to run the windows Setup program again" finally it announces a file "VPOWERD" (presumably the bad file but I am unsure - see below.) and then it hangs. when I examine my SySTEM.INI I can't find VPOWERD referenced anywhere so I am not sure that this is the problem file or if it is where it is being referenced. Nor can I find where VPOWERD is located (it's not under c:\WINDOWS nor C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM) or should be located on my system. I do not want to reinstall Windows ME from my OEM CDs as the only choice it gives is to overwrite the entire C: partition - which would require reinstalling all my applications. On a W98 machine I see that VPOWERD.VXD is located under C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM and, thinking wishfully that W98 and WME are close cousins, I have tried taking a copy of that file to the same location on my ME machine. No change and no improvement. I have tried to create an ME EBD to try to run Scanreg but it tells me that HIMEM is.... what is not enabled or whatever and to check that HIMEM.SYS is on the booit disk - which it is. Can anyone suggest a way that I can a) figure out what file or files are bad b) how I can restire them (maybe from the CDs cabs?) without having to do a complete reinstall of Wme. many thanks for any suggestions.     - Windows ME Startup menu items I have too many items (programs) running in the background when I startup my computer, which in turn, makes my system too slow. Some of the items I know I need, others I don't need or want. How do I go in to turn off some of these items, temporarily or permanently, in order to gain back some system response speed?     - Error Message I am getting this message every time I boot up my PC: motivesb has caused an error in kernel32.dll The only thing that I have done before getting this message is that I tryed to install a new printer HP cartridge. HP said this is not related to a cartridge but to remove the matcli.exe from startup. I did this and I do not get the error message. The motivesb and matcli files have something to do with the Verizon directory who is my DSL provider. I do not understand why the problem occurred and why removing the matcli.exe from start-up fixed the problem. Anyone who has an answer, please email me at above address.     - Unwanted Toolbar I am trying to unsubscribe from GroupLotto. But when I clicked the unsubscribe address, they added a ?Fun and Games? toolbar to Internet Explorer. The website for this tooIbar is toolbar.pickoftheweb.com. I know I can go to View|Toolbars| and remove the check by the ?Fun and Games Toolbar? so that the toolbar will not be visible, but I would like to remove the software from my computer.     - Error in MSVCRT.DLL..? Hi all, I have been using my scanner on and off today to scan pics and such for a family member. It was working perfectly until I suddenly got an error message while loading a scan, that said... Message box heading: Hposcv07 HPOSCV07: Caused an error in MSVCRT.DLL and will now close. And then when you click OK, it shuts the scan process down and returns to the main menu. In doing a search, I found a list located in various Program Files, one being for the HP G55 all-in-one printer unit I have. I rebooted and it would work for a time or two, then I'd get the message again. I have no idea what the MSVCRT.DLL is for, so I'm a bit puzzled as to what has caused the error or where to troubleshoot the problem.     - newdotnet3_23.dll A friend has an old 98 gateway which runs windows 98. They needed help getting it internet ready. Somebody was playing with it before I arrived and somehow came across this error message which pops up with every start- up...Rundll32 has caused an error in newdotnet3_23.dll. Rundll will now close. The computer is new to the person, so I was simply going to use the gateway disks to bring the computer to the original configuration to start it fresh, but the original owner can't find them. I then thought about a reformat, but with a gateway...it has a built in sound and video card. So I am nervous about drivers for them. On top of it all, even with the modem installed properly and is running properly, the computer refuses to log on to the internet. Any help or information is more than helpful. I am trying to start my desk top computer with Windows ME
and everytime I start it, I recieve a message:

Cannot Find SYSTEM.INI.

Boot with emergency Boot Disk and type SCANREG /RESTORE

The problem is I do not have am Emergency Boot Disk. Can
I create one from another computer? I have a lap top
with Windows Home XP. Can I create an emergency boot
disk for my Windows ME computer?

Go to www.bootdisk.com and get one for WinMe there.
