And one must take it all with a pinch of salt, but it should be noted that
9.0a and previous versions are said to have a known vulnerability, for which
there's a patch if using 9.0a that's built into 9.0b, so you can install the
patch or update to 9.0b.
The patch isn't available for the DX8.x series (or earlier) other than by
installing 9.0b (or, one would suppose, installing 9.0a then applying the
patch). However, a (quick) glance at the files installed with 9.0b suggests
it's little more than 9.0a plus the patch anyway, so if one already had 9.0a
and were on 56k dial-up and paying by the minute, the patch would perhaps be
the better option.
Or you can stick with the old version. Of course now the vulnerability is
widely-known - to a large extent you're safe right up to the moment MS
publishes the security bulletin and/or patch.
