Will not start! "Even in safe mode!

WIN-ME instillation goes to c: and says cannot find
windows\system32\vmm32.vxd.

Also says can't find c:\windows\ifshlp.sys and

c:\windows\dblbuff.sys. I carefully copied these files

on flopies, one by one, from a working machine. No change!

For me, i've hit the DUH factor! Please help.

I would try this :
start with starting diskett
then reinstall ME on itself (if you have ME CDrom)
