Did a fresh install, loaded board drivers, and hardware
drivers. Began the tedious process of downloading updates.
At some point in time during the many reboots, MY COMPUTER
started to open showing the contents of my hardrive(s)when
going into the desktop. The problem continues. It does
seem that it's not affecting anything else, however it's
not the way it's supposed to be. How do I correct this ?

Do you have either Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall
installed? If so then this could be the cause of your problem since there is
a timing problem with IAMAPP.EXE loading as Win Me starts up which results in
Explorer displaying various folders at startup. The solution being to remove
the registry entry that launches IAMAPP.EXE and instead launch the program
using a shortcut in Start | Programs | Startup.

The following link to Symantec's website provides a better description of the
problem and gives a link to a workaround.

Finally Windows Explorer can pop up when booting if you have both a
C:\Programs folder as well as a C:\Program Files folder. If this is the cause
you will need to re-think your folder names if you want to prevent the problem
from occurring.

No. A problem can occur when both a Program Files and Program folder exist on
the drive containing the Windows folder being used by Win Me. Win Me when
booting has (or should have) no interest in the names of folders on other
drives.
