Today (18 OCT 2003) I discovered unwanted advertisements
located in my Winodws Millenium directory:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\AdCache - a directory I do not recall
seeing before. When I attempt to delete the files in this
directory, they reappear a few moments later, even though
they are also dumped into the Recycle Basket. In other
words I seem to be unable to remove these unwanted
promotional files.

Can anyone suggest a method of removing these files?

Peter

Peter,

It would appear that you have an unwanted parasite on your PC. Until you rid
yourself of this parasite the folder will persist.

If you have not already done so I would also recommend you download yourself a
copy of the free Ad-Aware 6.0 from Lavasoft
(http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/) and also SpyBot
(http://security.kolla.de/) and scan your system for and remove any unwanted
parasites, adware, spyware, foistware and any other junk that might be hiding
on your PC.

Peter,
"adcache" is a component of Cydoor and BDE Spyware, as Mike M.
prescribed, get yourself a copy of SpyBot and Ad-aware at the URL's
he provided, ASAP.
Info on Cydoor:
