11 HOURS!!!

Things started out well; got the upgrade, backed up what I could and forged
ahead with leaving WinME behind. The process gets through the Dynamic
Update and the first restart. Then...11 hours later and the progress bar
isn't even halfway through! The 'puter meets the sys-req, so that's not it.

Any ideas before I go completely mad? Should I be asking in the XP group
instead?

Thx

Since this is a newsgroup supporting those running Win Me rather than XP I
would have thought that posting to an XP newsgroup would be more likely to
get a helpful response. I would suggest you try posting to a newsgroup
such as microsoft.public.windowsxp.setup_deployment giving full details of
your system including processor type and model, amount of RAM installed
and details of your hard disk(s) including size, how partitioned and how
much free space there is in each partition.

Additionally include details as to whether you are attempting to install
XP over Win Me (upgrading) or as a parallel install (that is you intend
multi-booting). One final point, when upgrading it is often better to
disconnect all external devices such as usb printers and scanners and then
installing/upgrading these once you have got XP up and running correctly.
