How come a windows update takes only 8 minutes to
download, but then takes hours to install? I'm currently
stuck in install hell for update No. KB828026. This
happens to me all of the time. I have cleaned out my
cache and my cookie folders and have no programs running
except being on line.

You sure you are not using XP? I find ME updates rapid.
If you want to be not just upset, get XP.

>Well, according to Mark it's a problem with AOL. So
today I am going to send a copy of his statements to AOL
and see what kind of response I get. It's interesting
that the IPHLPAPI.DLL file cannot start doesn't seem to
cause any running problems, just gives you that uncertain
feeling that something must be wrong with my computer and
if your not a techy, like me, you just assume that you've
done something wrong.

>Wow! Thanks. I had totally forgotten about this. This
problem has happened to me before when trying to install
updates. However, I thought that I had received a hot fix
from microsoft that would prevent this from happening
again. I also try to remember to quit running NSD before
trying to download updates, but I know that I sometimes
forget. Now I have a sticky note attached to the monitor
as a reminder. Thank you, thank you. And yes I'm going
to relabel the IPHLPAPI files as you directed. Thanks
again.
