The desktop icons My Computer and My Documents won't open when I double
click them. I recently upgraded to XP Home, same problem. The task manager
shows CPU usage of 100% when I double click these icons, also control panel
and find files and folders does the same thing.
My computer is a HP, with 128 megs of ram,
I'm posting to this group because the problem started with Windows ME.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks..

What happens if you right click on the icon and select "Open"?

Try Remove'ing all instances of your mouse drivers in
ControlPanle/System/DeviceManager (View by Type) and reboot. After
Windows redetects the mouse and you reinstall your drivers, if the
problem persists, try another mouse and/or try your mouse on another
system to see if it's a hardware fault.
