    - Hotmail I did sign up for Hotmail. I have never recieved anything at all as far as I can tell. I was forced to take my puter to a quick restore state and not I can not get any e-mail in any form. I would like to get out of Hotmail and just go with anything else that I can get some mail. Anyone with any suggestions? I can not even get instructions for my anti-virus etc. This is really hard on my nerves. Hotmail my foot. No mail is a better word for it.     - Won't Stay Put My computer was fixed last winter, and now stuff on the desktop, like Windows Media shortcuts on the desktop and taskbar, the size of the taskbar, and the position of the shortcuts won't stay put.     - windows disappear quickly. Hi, I'm troubleshooting someone else's pc. Here's the long of it: They bought a new printer. They installed the software on their pc - running Win ME. They try to print a document and get nothing. Uninstall/reinstall software several times... no luck -- after talking to their tech support decide it's a communication problem. Then they realize their may be additional problems with the pc. Here's a prime example - goto Run/regedit. The result is - the registry window pops-up for less than a second and closes. I cannot get into their registry?? Also come to find the same problem with Add/Remove Epson Software. I did 2 hours worth of MS critical downloads to get their pc up to date, but still no luck.     - Exception Error in VxDs I'm getting "exception occurred in VxD NTKERN. Called from VxD NDIS" Eventually I get a "Windows Protection Error". I have to start in Safe Mode. I've tried not installing NDIS (in the static VxD part from msconfig), but then I can't get on the internet. Everything was fine on the computer. Then I installed more RAM. Still OK. Then I tried to install Geforce FX 5500 PCI graphics card and I've been having trouble since then. I've downloaded new driver software from Nividia, but still get the problem. HELP!     - System almost grinds to a halt After my PC has been on for a while, the system resources seem to run very low. Sometimes I try to start a new program and it tells me I need to shut something down, yet I have very little running. This is easily cured by doing a Restart, but it is really annoying. I have installed Process Explorer to try tracking down the problem and it seems to show STMGR.EXE as being the culprit, and the only thing using 90+% of the CPU. When things really grind slow, after several hours of running, P.E. shows % of System Idle CPU as a minus figure. This has been going on for a while, and all the usual virus scans and checks have been made on numerous occasions. I have an AMD 1200 processor and 512MB RAM. Any ideas please?     - Renaming long file names I have a rather perplexing dilemma. I am trying to delete 3 files/folders. I click on Delete, message box says; Error Deleting File or Folder---Cannot delete file. The filename you specified is invalid or too long. Specify a different filename. I have tried to rename both the file (s) and folder(s) to no avail. I keep getting the same Error Message.     - How to configure spare Hard Drive I have two 20Gig hard drives. I want to use one for general use and the other for saving back up documents and programs. But I also want to be able to boot up on either one. In fact, I'd like to work it so that the backup will be a mirror image of the first drive. If that needs special software, then I'd just like to use it for backing up. So I uncabled the second drive and formatted the first drive (DR0) to boot up for general use. Then I moved the cable (DR0) from the first drive to the second drive (careful to change the second drive's jumper to make it DR0) and formatted it the same way. But when I change the jumper back and hook them both up in their original configuration as DR0 and DR1 on the same cable, the second drive automatically gets reformatted somehow and I lose the system boot up stuff.     - Cannot move or copy files Windows Explore Recent problem -- no other problems that I am aware of -- when in Windows Explore am unable to move or copy FILES. Can create and rename folders. Started having trouble with slow internet connection and getting kicked off so went to do a system backup before running cleanup utilities and found this problem. Have run scandisk & defrag, have Norton virus definitions as of 9/30 and have run virus scan. Have not installed anything new although did remove an old program through it's uninstall process.     - PC Fails To Start Over the last fortnight my PC became increasingly difficult to start up. It would freeze before the Windows Me Logo was displayed on the monitor. Ctrl Alt Del had no effect. A physical switch off and back on would display the usual incorrect shutdown format and initiate a Scandisk. The pc would then continue to start up and then freeze at another point in the start up cycle. this would continue to be repeated until finally after several attempts the PC would finally start up and display the desktop. On selecting My Computer I was then unable to open any folders which would display the 'Open With' option. I restored my PC and it appeared to work. Next day, on switching my PC on the pc will not go past a 'C' prompt. Ctrl Alt Del results in the same. If I perform a physical shut down the PC re powers and goes to a blue format saying my IFSHLP file is not present. if the PC is repowered it sometimes goes to the format indicating 'Safe Mode'start up. if this is selected the C prompt appears and I am back to square 1. I am using a I Ghz Athalon processor, 320 Mb RAM and 512 Mb PNY NVIDIA Graphics Adapter.I have AV software, a Zone Labs Firewall, Spyblaster, Adaware and the latest download from the Windows Update site.     - All Folders Don't Show IN Expanded View Recently, our ME pc quite showing all of the folders available on the left pane of Window's Explorer. If I click on a folder on the left side, I will see most of the sub-folders within that folder on the right pane, but not all folders. If I click on the + sign to expand the folder, I see all my folders on the left pane. The files then display ok on the right side. I bought a Tiny PC a while ago with WinME installed on it and i have a restore disk for the recovery of the OS, problem is that my motherboard died on me and because tiny were taken over by tiny.com it would have cost me more to get a new one from them so bought my own. in Windows. It turned up in My Documents, but now, I'm
trying to post it and it keeps saying, that it is not a
valid picture. It seems as tho, I need to make it smaller
and then put it on My Pictures without having to go thru
Word. How do I do this. Plz help me.

It's probably in a format proprietry to the video cam software. The software
you used to save it probably has the option to save it as, eg, a .jpg or
jpeg. Open the picture with that software, select File | Save As and choose
Jpeg.
