My wife and I are thinking about buying 2 new PCs. They will replace the
one Gateway Essential 866 mhz P3 we now have. What do I need to look for to
make sure we can use wireless internet access thru a shared modem? We
currently connect to ADSL using an application called Enternet, but it is
set up for just one PC. One PC would be in the upstairs master bedroom and
the other in the downstairs master. I have no experience in networking
other than what I have picked up at work being an end-user, and absolutely
none in wireless technology. Any and all comments welcome.

TIA,

Marty

Carey Holzman has an excellent write-up for networking a couple of
computers. Most problems appear to be caused by configuration errors,
thus would strongly suggest you take 10 minutes and read his
suggestions and/or tips at;

A more comprehensive, and informative, (not to mention being more correct in
it's information!) treatment is given by Steve Winograd (et al.) - at

Thank you Noel, Silj, and Dan. I have saved all of your posts for future
reference when we do buy the new PCs and will research the links you
furnished thoroughly prior to trying to set up our network.
