Over the past week or so, I have seen postings complaining
about the "advice" given through this forum. I, for one,
have posted a few times over the past year and your advice
has been extremely helpful. I also periodically scan the
postings and have picked-up a lot of valuable information.
I used to be a computer user who "knew enough to be
dangerous." Through this forum, I now know a lot more and
have become less dangerous! Thanks for all your FREE
(emphasis added) advice. It is truly appreciated.

I do have one question. The main desktop P/C my wife and
I use runs ME. I do have a laptop I use occasionally that
runs Windows 98. Is there a specific newsgroup for
Windows 98 users?

Thanks,

cmg,

There are a large number of win98 specific newsgroups on the Microsoft news
server (msnews.microsoft.com). The English language ones all have names
starting microsoft.public.win98.* with the equivalent of this one being
microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion.

I suspect that in the not too distant future we will see all of the Win 9x
newsgroups consolidated into a single hierarchy due to the demise of the 9x
systems.

You're welcome!

Your question re Win 98 NG's - yes there are a number of them.
You should be able to access them exactly the same way as you do the ME
ones - but you're be a LOT better off using the newsreader built into
Outlook express, than that awful CDO web-based interface!!!
Look here for instructions
