When I turn on my computer my firewall tells me a temp
file is attempting to access the internet (outbound). How
can I trace these and find out exactly what they are? It
is a different site each day i.e. FQL5275.TMP. If I try
and open one it says it may be dangerous to my computer so
I haven't tried that.

Do you scan your system for viral activity regularly and do you keep the
definition files updated ? If yes then you *may* be dealing with
spy|mal|adware . To scan for "parasites go here :
