Hi,
I'm in the process of cleaning out my files, and cam across my set of
recovery discs for Windows Me that was for my HP Pavilion. I've upgraded to
Windows XP Pro and no longer need (or can use) these CDs.

So, if anyone in the US wants these, please contact me by responding to this
post. I don't want to throw them out or sell them, but shipping costs will
be the responsibility of anyone interested.

Regards,
Allan

That's a very good question. Well, this is akward, as I didn't think of
that. Do you know how I could determine that? I'll look into that, but any
info you could give to assist would be appreciated.

Wait a minute! How is that even possible? I've worked in Manufacturing many
years to know how difficult it is to track serial numbers of different
components together much less than having a motherboard ID burned into a CD
recovery program. They burn these things out in batches, so how could they
match a single CD to a motherboard. That would be far too costly. I do know
that these will only work with HP Pavillion PCs, according to the
documentation I just read.

So, I don't know how to resolve this one. The discs come with lots of
additional software for photos and games. I don't remember the list, but
there's a lot.

Thanks,
Allan

If you key in Ctrl-Alt-S you ought to get a box with HP Pavilion Support
Information that is tatooed into your motherboard. The recovery CDs look at
this. You've never mentioned your model number. At the very least a person
would have to have a matching model. There is probably a wider range that
recovery CDs match but I can't say for sure how Hardware BOM and Software
BOM and Software build figure in.

Sorry I'm replying to this post but I don't have the rest of the thread to
reply to Allan. You say you have upgraded to XP, if you did that from
WinME you still need those CD's as they are part of the upgrade path.
If this was answered in another part of this sorry but I just saw Angelo
wanting them.

I was thinking in the same lines as you are, Joan, but the subject of a
'tatoo to the motherboard' came up and I lost track there. Maybe Tom can
clear tis up for us..

Hi there,
Sorry for such a long delay inresponding. The system is a HP Pavilion 2950
1Ghz machine (actually 997Mhz, but HP calls it 1Ghz). So, if you're
interested in accuiring them, let me know your zip code, and I'll calculate
the shipping chanrges. Then, you can send that to my paypal account, if
that's acceptable to you. Please advise.
