    - How To Repair Files? - Win Me How do I repair and verify file "LTMDMNTT.SYS"? This file is located in C:\Windows\System32\Drivers. The properties box of this file does not list author, version, or any other info. Scan Disk insisted on running a physical test and stated it "found two bad sectors but did not fix the errors."     - Return XP to ME My HP Pavilion came with Windows ME installed. I upgraded to XP Home ED. The software instructions said I could go back to ME if I didn't reformat the hard drive and change from FAT32 file system to NT file system.     - active-x I have Windows ME operating on an HP Pavilion machine (7845). My desktop is gone--looks like it reverted to a brand new machine. A MS Works welcome message appears along with a message saying that security won't allow me to load active X (something like that--I'm writing from work not home). The active x message pops up everytime I try to open something. Also, a message saying that Norton Anti- Virus can't check my email. Start menue doesn't work either. I can see all of my files when I run a search by right clicking on My Computer, but can't open anything. What happened prior to this: I have internet content set with password to block out porn and violence, but repeatedly get bombarded with ads that can only be eliminated by shutting down the computer. So, this happened Tuesday night and I hit control-alt- delete, then shut down. Next day my desktop was gone as described above. Internet options recognizes my password, so I know all of my info is still "in there" somewhere. How do I get it all back. I'm prepared to buy a new system, hardware, OS, et al., but desperately want to save my doc files and powerpoint presentations. Most are backed-up, but not the most recent items. Please Help.     - Unsafe attatchments on e-mail I received e-mail (outlook express) with attached files. I requested. Attatchments are showing but are not Live. When I right click on message a header states "OE removed access to the following unsafe files in your e-mail" One is a word file from my daughter the other is a embroidery file from an associate.     - Improper Shutdown on ME Whenever I start up my ME system I get an automatic scan disk with the message "Improper shutdown detected". A while back I applied the longest delay from Windows/INF/QFE and that appeared to have cured the problem. However it's back. I know there was something somewhere about a mod to change the Autoscan line to zero in the msdos.sys file options but my options only contain:- [Options] BootMulti=0 BootGUI=1 DoubleBuffer=1 and there is a problem re the size of msdos.sys.     - Reinstall WinMe ??? -- Progman.exe--Error Loading Windows Hi, I just reinstalled WinMe and after installing updates (Microsoft, Symantec-NAV2004, drivers,etc) ...everything was fine until tried to install the printer's software at the very end...then everything went crazy after reboot. During reboot, I received -"Error loading Explorer.exe - You must reinstall Windows", but now I can't boot to Safe Mode or use Progman.exe (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;279736&Product=winm e ). All error messages during Progman failure or WinMe StartUp Disk attempts to use "Restore" always result in "Couldn't load/install in Dos-Mode". Now for the bad part--I ran Scanreg /restore--just trying to restore to a point before the failure, but no luck and not sure if I can UNDO(?).     - rundll Error Upon booting, I receive the message "Rundll has caused an error in mmsystem.dll." The only thing I can find in the Microsoft Knowledge Base is for the message "msgsrv32 has caused an error in mmsystem.dll," where the message occurs on a blue screen and the computer hangs. On my machine, the message occurs on a normal error message window, and the computer does not completely hang. The mouse no longer functions, nor does it display the cursor. I have tried using another mouse on the computer (one which has previously worked on this machine) to no avail. Also, the Display has shifted from 256-colour to 16-colour. I attempted to fix this through the Display icon in the Control Panel but was unsuccessful. Finally, the Ctrl-Alt-Del function no longer works after the error message occurs (it will function during booting, prior to the error message, but not after; the mouse never works and the display is always in 16 colour).     - Tab Key problems since installing DSL When I use my tab key, instead of going to the next field, flips between any open programs. It did not do this before.     - Win ME updates and service pack My sister is gave her old computer to my parents, and they have a dail-up internet account. I am doing a clean re-install. Is there anyway to order a CD from Microsoft with all service packs and updates for ME, since their connection is slow?     - Too Much Memory? After installing a second 512 (now 1024 total) ddr mem stick in my computer, I began getting the "out of memory" error. System BIOS has no problems. I went to the knowledge base and I understand what the problem is but the solutions don't make sense. -If I go to the system.ini and force windows to just recognize 512 instead of all 1024 so I don't run out of memory addresses, does that mean the system will never utilize all 1024 of memory? -Other than modifing the system.ini or vcache, is there another solution? -Is my only solution to using all 1024 upgrading to 2000 or XP? The original reason behind the memory increase was because I'm about to transfer VHS/PVR stored programs to DVD and wanted to system to have enough memory (currently running w/AMD 2000 processor).     - Windows ME update I have tried numerous time to use the windows update to get the new security updates. It tells me it will update Internet Explorer. After each time I tell it to continue the installation, it comes back with a window that says "Setup was unable to install all the components.     - Streets and Trips 2001 error I have WinMe Dell OEM version with MS Works Suite 2001. I recently noticed MS Streets and Trips won't run. I get an error when I try to run it or put the cd in my drive, saying "This application is unable to continue running because of a problem accessing the network." The only system changes I've made recently was adding an old WD Caviar 1.2gb hard drive that slaves off of the cd-rom drive. The drive letters have changed and my CD-Rom drive is now drive E:\, it was drive D:\ before. Anyone know how I could fix this? I tried going to Add/Remove Programs and repairing Streets and Trips, but it looks for a file called Data.msi on the cd, but its not found. Any ideas?
