I have an older laptop and tested some Windows XP setup
disks on it before using them on a newer computer.
However, now when I start the computer up, I have to
choose which operating system I want to use. The choices
are "Windows Millenium Edition" and "Windows XP
Installation/Upgrade". I would like to get rid of the XP
stuff and awhile ago a microsoft tech told me something
about "sysing" my drive or something like that. He gave
me a knowledge base article #, but I lost it. So, if
somebody could give me some tips on removing the XP
install so that my computer boots normally, I would
greatly appreciate it!

If you don't already have one, make a Boot Disk in Add/Remove Programs |
Startup Disk. If that's a problem, download one from www.bootdisk.com.

Boot from it (possibly needing to change the boot order in the bios first,
to boot from Floppy (FDD) first).

At the command prompt type

SYS C:

When done, remove the floppy and reboot. If you changed the bios setting,
change it back.

Make a WinME startup (floppy) disk
Boot your computer to the startup disk (a:)
Open a command prompt
Type "sys c:" to transfer the system files from your
startup disk to your hard disk (C:)
