    - VNETSUP error 6101 After turning the computer on initially, I get a windows networking dialog box which says"The following error ourred while loading the device VNETSUP error 6101. The string specified by the COMPUTERNAME keyword in the registry was not found." After clicking OK, A new error appears which says" YOur display adapter is not configured properly. To correct the problem, click OK to start hardware installation wizard." The installation wizard cannot find any new drivers and display options has 16 colors an a low screen resolution. THe compter cannot conncet to the internet through the cable service and does not recognize either of the two CD drives. I tried the emergncy disk for norton, but it does not find a problem. Then I get the following two errors as well. "Explorer has caused and error in NSSHRUI.DLL. Explorer will now close." And then "The IPHLPAPI.DLL file cannot start.     - setupx.dll fix for Win I had a problem trying to fix the following error message and ended up posting a request for help in the Win Me NG and subsequently in the Win 98 NG; "Rundll32 has caused an error in setupx.dll" Evidently a gal by the name of Krystyna offered the following fix a couple of years ago, and it appears from the postings in Computing Net to have resolved the problem many times. In case someone is interested for future reference, I have copied her fix; Copy and paste these lines exactly as they are, into Notepad, starting at Regedit4, and including everything down to the last inverted commas. Save it as SETUPX.REG in My Documents and then double click the file to run it. The registry entries will be edited and hopefully all will be well again.     - CDR & CDRW I'm not too well versed on CD writing, and have difficulty sometimes putting files to a CD. The drive icon in explorer shows the disc to be full, though I know it only contains a few mb's of data. I also keep coming across " disc open or disc closed" terminology. What does that mean?     - Re-initalize Me upgrade of W98 Lately my computer is 'freezing up' and I am unable to regain control with <ctl-alt-del>. Re-booting brings up Scandisk which reports that lost file fragments have been recovered into memory. I knew it was only a matter of time before a windows critical file would be affected. That time appears to be now. Several USB functions NO LONGER WORK, BSOD's appear frequently and lockups occur almost daily. Windows Restore function does not correct the problem. Part One I have the Win ME upgrade installed over win 98. What options do I have about reloading Windows? Must I reinstall on a clean drive, or can I force Windows to reinstall over itself? Install Win 98 first? Part Two Do I have to 'force' the Microsoft update site to reinstall the security updates, or will it automatically detect that they are no longer installed on my machine, or are the files saved somewhere on my machine, for reinstalling? Part Three What can I do BEFORE a reinstall which would save me from having to download large files over a DIALUP connection? (e.g. I already have the IE 5.5 installer files saved on a separate hard drive). Also, I have a CD burner. Computer is Pentium II - 350Mhz, 256Mb RAM, 2 x 6.4 GB HDD's, CD-RW, Win ME over Win 98. Windows and programs install to 'C:'(about 4GB used) but most program user data files are stored on the separate 'D:' drive, including 'My Documents' and Mozilla profile data.     - Blank screen Help please if you can. I am having a problem with my computer and I think its the os. When I turn it on it boots up as far as the ME screen.     - script errors I have been having serious problems with ME. The registry has been getting scrambled. This was after doing security updates. Have tried reinstalling win. tried fixing with NU but it is getting worse. now Nu will not run because of script errors line 154 and 261. Downloaded script- SCR56EN.EXE . But all it does is install itself. and there is no explanation on how to use it. Restore was not an option, all restore points were gone after the box crashed. GoBack is not installed. ME has been giving me problems on this box since day one. When I have tried to reinstall it the installation never goes smoothly. There are always errors or blue screens. Is it possible I have a bad CD from MS? it was a brand new in the wrapper from MS disc. From what I am seeing and hearing ME is not a very stable system.     - Can't install Flash player HI all - I have been trying to install the Flash player, but, when I click the Install icon on the website to install nothing happens. I have followed the instructions on their troubleshooting list and done the uninstall. When I run the uninstall, it says the uninstall of the Flash player was successful. ??     - can't rename photos Using Windows ME and can't rename any photos. When try to rename the a warning window appears..."If you change a filename extension the file may become unusable". If I change the name anyway, the photo is lost and the file icon looks like a small window with lines of colored objects...and I can't open it.     - Windows ME Password I have always had a password set up to enter Windows ME. However, just recently the password login comes up but, if I click on cancel (which I did inadvertently the first time I noticed this), it will override the password and let me in. I tried to go into "Settings/Control Panel/Passwords" to rectify this matter; however, I do not have a "Change Password" tab on my Password Properties box. Another thing - just recently upon booting up - just prior to, or simultaneously with, the password login coming up, I also get a message that "The IPHLPAPI.DLL file cannot start".     - TEMP files? Hi, I've been out of the tech loop for a while now, so I'm not clear on this anymore. Used to be that in order to optimize performance one deleted all found *.tmp files. However, trying to prepare my ME edition pc today to scandisk, I found a few hundred of these .tmp files, and was hesitant to delete them. I would suspect some problem with your CD drive - or possibly your Virtual
Memory settings.

First - check that your Virtual Memory is set to Drive C:, and that Windows
is set to manage it (System Properties|Performance|Virtual Memory)

The reboot to Safe Mode
Open Device Manager
Remove ALL CD devices
Reboot to normal mode - windows will reinstall required drivers.

See if that helps
