    - msbug adv I keep getting a pop up that must be a prank file that says: "this page contains both secure and non secure items...do you want to display the non secure items...with a yes no or more info.....whatever you click, it does nothing and keeps coming back.....then when I try to restart the computer....I get this msbug adv screen that say I cannot quit...it is so annoying.     - startup stops short of displaying desktop Over X-mas I was downloading some windows updates for my mom's computer. One of the updates was for explorer. While it was downloading i left and came back to find an error message for a "rundll.dll" file and now when it boots it shows the desktop background but no icons or taskbar. There is no sytem restore to go back to, nor was there a startup disk ever made. Starting in safe mode has the same results. changing the boot order so it boots from the cd-rom drive with the ME cd in has the same results as well.     - THe Mirar toolbar installed itself I am almost in tears because I have tired evey thing to remove this tool bar can some one please hep!! How do you remove the Mirar toolbar I got these directions but I am scared to use them Start the registry editor. This is done by clicking Start then Run. (The Run dialog will appear.)     - script errors After much searching, i've been unable to find info on the possibility of correcting a Help and Support error when opened. The pop-up states line 857, character 2, in PC Health.Usersettings.Is Admin' Is null or not an object. Code 0 URL hcp://system/homepage.htm Have had other script errors but do not know how to deal with them except when McAfee finds them and guides through a removal by sending them to their research facilities.     - right click start-explore option When I right click on my start button to view my Windows Explorer, the open folder is always my 'Windows' folder, which I never use. How do I get that default to be 'My Documents'.     - Dll errors/Explorer default page and win min Someone suggested my computer may have been hit with a "virus". I don't know. But whatever happened, except for these problems I have isolated, everything seems to be O.K. I am using Windows ME. I get two rundll error windows when boots up: C:\windows\system\msconfd.dll A dynamic link library (dll) initialization routine failed. C:\windows\system msconfd.dll A dynamic link library (dll) initializiation routine failed. I think these two errors have to do with windows linking to other programs I have on the computer, but this is just a guess and I don't know what programs they are, or how to correct this. Also, in Windows Explorer, my default home page keeps changing to http://just.finditnow.com/. The internet options screen will let me change it to, for example, Yahoo. But, when I exit explorer and reboot, it automatically defaults back to http://just.finditnow.com/. My third and final problem is when I close windows I get the pop-up screen that win min is not responding; do I want to wait, cancel, etc. What is win min and how can I correct this.     - computer freezes (hangs) on startup I am using windows ME and when I turn on the computer, it freezes (hangs) without getting to my desktop. When it freezes, nothing works including ctrl, alt, and delete. I'm also unable to turn off the system with the on/off button. I have to turn off the power on the surge protector to turn off the computer. When it comes back up, scan-disk runs and it powers up to the desktop.     - VNETSUP error 6101 After turning the computer on initially, I get a windows networking dialog box which says"The following error ourred while loading the device VNETSUP error 6101. The string specified by the COMPUTERNAME keyword in the registry was not found." After clicking OK, A new error appears which says" YOur display adapter is not configured properly. To correct the problem, click OK to start hardware installation wizard." The installation wizard cannot find any new drivers and display options has 16 colors an a low screen resolution. THe compter cannot conncet to the internet through the cable service and does not recognize either of the two CD drives. I tried the emergncy disk for norton, but it does not find a problem. Then I get the following two errors as well. "Explorer has caused and error in NSSHRUI.DLL. Explorer will now close." And then "The IPHLPAPI.DLL file cannot start.     - setupx.dll fix for Win I had a problem trying to fix the following error message and ended up posting a request for help in the Win Me NG and subsequently in the Win 98 NG; "Rundll32 has caused an error in setupx.dll" Evidently a gal by the name of Krystyna offered the following fix a couple of years ago, and it appears from the postings in Computing Net to have resolved the problem many times. In case someone is interested for future reference, I have copied her fix; Copy and paste these lines exactly as they are, into Notepad, starting at Regedit4, and including everything down to the last inverted commas. Save it as SETUPX.REG in My Documents and then double click the file to run it. The registry entries will be edited and hopefully all will be well again.     - CDR & CDRW I'm not too well versed on CD writing, and have difficulty sometimes putting files to a CD. The drive icon in explorer shows the disc to be full, though I know it only contains a few mb's of data. I also keep coming across " disc open or disc closed" terminology. What does that mean?     - Re-initalize Me upgrade of W98 Lately my computer is 'freezing up' and I am unable to regain control with <ctl-alt-del>. Re-booting brings up Scandisk which reports that lost file fragments have been recovered into memory. I knew it was only a matter of time before a windows critical file would be affected. That time appears to be now. Several USB functions NO LONGER WORK, BSOD's appear frequently and lockups occur almost daily. Windows Restore function does not correct the problem. Part One I have the Win ME upgrade installed over win 98. What options do I have about reloading Windows? Must I reinstall on a clean drive, or can I force Windows to reinstall over itself? Install Win 98 first? Part Two Do I have to 'force' the Microsoft update site to reinstall the security updates, or will it automatically detect that they are no longer installed on my machine, or are the files saved somewhere on my machine, for reinstalling? Part Three What can I do BEFORE a reinstall which would save me from having to download large files over a DIALUP connection? (e.g. I already have the IE 5.5 installer files saved on a separate hard drive). Also, I have a CD burner. Computer is Pentium II - 350Mhz, 256Mb RAM, 2 x 6.4 GB HDD's, CD-RW, Win ME over Win 98. Windows and programs install to 'C:'(about 4GB used) but most program user data files are stored on the separate 'D:' drive, including 'My Documents' and Mozilla profile data.     - explorer problems After loading "noadware", when launching any desktop icon a small window appears and states failed to get data for "ad". When launching internet explorer it opens, won't start the dialer and displays Iexplore has caused an error in cpr.dll. I uninstalled noadware. Tried reloading explorer and reinstalled windows ME.
