    - internet explorer Thank you so much for the information that was given me about my internet explorer causing an error in TPS108. I did what was said to do and found out that there were several pest attached to my internet explorer. I downloaded SpyBot and did a search and destroy but it said that it could not fix the error.     - IE5.5 won't remember temp history My IE5.5 SP2 doesn't seem to remember the temporary history (the one in the Address bar down-arrow selection) from session to session anymore. I would be entering sites manually from time to time and the feature would work then, but when I close down IE and reopen a new session, all the addresses are gone. This was never a problem for years.. and now all of a sudden the history is failing. What's the problem? The "regular" History (the one called up with the History button itself) works fine. When I check the Documents listing from the Start menu, I see about 15 recent documents (I seem to recall that the list used to be much longer in the past, but now there are only 15. Meanwhile... I have hunted for some more info about my original problem and find that there are discussions about the "TypedURLs" in the Registry. Well.. I cannot find such a Key value with regedit! In my first week I made about $25.00. By the end of the second week I had made a total of over $1000.00! In my third week I had over $10,000.00 and it is still growing.     - Can't Find Operating System Error Message On Boot I recently had to reinstall my Windows ME on my system. When I did I of course lost all of my updates and IE 6. I have spent the last 2 days getting all of my updates and getting IE 6 to work but when I started my computer today I got a "Can not find operating system" error message. I had to boot up about 6 times before I finally started up. I had this same problem once before when I had to do a reinstall.     - Problems Running Scan Disk and Defrag Hi. When I try to run Scandisk or Defrag they stop and restart because of drive activity. I've disabled my anti-virus software and my firewall software and this didn't seem to help.     - RPCRT4.DLL Help. Hoping some of you have followed my post Helpctr Error. An error continues to pop up even with 3rd party software and it involves RPCRT4.dll. I ran setup twice trying to remedy this situation to no avail. The next step will be to format my hard drive. I'm not sure if WinMe replaces RPCRT4.DLL in a reinstall. I am unable to download it 'cause I'm unable to follow some links in Internet Explorer. I'm unable to download windows updates... the web dialog pops up being transparent and nothing happens.     - ME pcmcia Installed new pcmcia nic because I thought the old one quit working. TCP/IP is loaded. I do an ipconfig and come up 0.0.0.0 Did release/renew with no change.     - ME updates killed two computers I made the mistake of running Windows Update on a computer, and it subsequently died with the message "Error loading explorer.exe. Must reinstall windows." Totally useless. The Microsoft Knowledge Base suggested I extract msvcrt.dll and explorer.exe, which I did to no avail. I reinstalled the original ME disk, which didn't really work either. I ended up upgrading that computer to XP which seems to have worked. So I used the ME disk for another computer. Later, I foolishly ran Windows Update on the 2nd computer, and it died in the same manner, only I can't recover this one, and it appears not to recognize the CD-ROM anymore. I can't even ask Microsoft without them charging me, because they want my Product ID, which I can't get because I can't start the damn computer to find it! So, what recourse do I have? It seems like the updates would be a useful thing to load, if they wouldn't crash my computer. At this point, I'd be happy to just have the original Windows ME back, but I'd also like to know why the updates are so consistently flaky.     - Problems setting up network Hard drive crashed, replaced it and installed ME. When I click "My network places", I keep getting an unknown script error and nothing appears in the window. I'm able to access this machine from my other computer, but only one way. I can go online, but the new drive won't recognize the network. Is there any other way to access the networking wizard?     - The strangest thing is happening!?! I was scanning some pictures using Epson scanner and when I went to transfer the photos into Adobe Photo Deluxe to edit them, the strangest thing happened. The computer acted as if I'd hit the reset button and it restarted, did the disk scan, etc. then started back up as usual. I've done this scan/transfer to Photo Deluxe manuveur hundreds of times and this has never happened before. I didn't want to rescan all the items I'd already scanned so I opened Photo Shop and browsed to the Epson folder where the scans files are located. What I found were both untranslated Epson scan file and duplicated Adobe format files. When I went to pull up the files using the Photo Deluxe retrieve file function I got an error message saying I had an error in Explorer, Kernel.32.dll error and it said Explorer was shutting down. So I rebooted and started over again. This happened a couple of times - each time when I got to the Epson folder containing my scanned files. So I thought, well, I'd move the photo files to my desk top to make it easier to find them next time. And that's why I did. When I rebooted the computer for about the 4th time, still getting the Kernel.32.dll error, all my photo files were on the desk top and then I immediately got the same error. What's interesting is that Explorer doesn't actually crash; everything still works fine. I deleted all the photo files on my computer (with the error message continually coming up and me continually hitting cancel). It took a while to delete the photo files as there were about 60 of them. However one file would not delete (said file is in use). Now, whenever I start my computer I get the Kernel.32.dll error. I click on cancel and if I don't have the desktop showing (browse into a web site or start email, etc.) then no error. As soon as any portion of the desktop where the undeletable file is showing, then I get the Kernel.32.dll error. Interesting too, when I tried to attach the "bad" photo file on the desk top to my email (thinking I'd just send it into cyberspace to be rid of it) as soon as the file on the desktop comes into the window in my email attachment choice, my email program immediately shuts down. The same happens when the file comes into any other window, e.g. when I select it to send to my Internet server using an FTP program. The FTP program just immediately closes. If I keep windows open over the desktop, no errors ... if any bit of the desktop shows (where the bad file is) I immediately get the Explorer Kernel.32.dll error. Everything, including Explorer works just fine. When I get the Kernel.32.dll error (related to the bad file in an open window)I click on close, but the Explorer doesn't actually close. Just a flicker, then all is well (until the desktop happens to peak out, then the error comes back). Help, help, help. I don't know even where to start on this one! I have a portable with Win ME. After nearly three years of use, and
downloading numerous apps and deleting them, I find the screen is slow to
work. Recently three large Word documents brought the machine to a halt
through lack of sufficient memory to do any saving. I have tried freebie
registry cleaners, but they seem to take out too much and I have to use
restore to get the machine to work again. Any ideas how I can release
memory?
