Shutdown automatic

Tutorials Win: Microsoft Windows Forum

I have this strange problem happened lately to my Win ME
PC. It will shutdown automatic whether it is in-use or
not. I have check every possible cause but still can't get
to the root. Anyone experiencing similar problem?

Shut down, or reboot??
if reboot, then it's likely a hardware problem of some kind - overheating of
some part of the system probably

sounds like the sasser virus to me. there is a fix on teh
windows virus support page.

ME is NOT susceptible to Sasser - and the fix program won't run on windows
9x platforms.

Hi,

Is Shutdown, not reboot. That is what keeps me thinking. :<
ANybody have any suggestion on overcoming this?

Did virus scan twice, negative results on virus infection.
So I am suspecting something went wrong with hardware but
just not sure which hardware :<

As I said in the original post - it's likely to be hardware.
Repost into a new thread with the EXACT symptoms you're getting - does it
happen soon after startup? does it happen always when you're opening a
program? - does it happen more on hot days? when it's raining? (it all makes
a difference to the running temp of the CPU, and to a lesser extent the PSU)
