Windows ME 4.9.3000

Lately my computer refuses to shut down properly. When I try to shut
down I encounter the following activity:

1. The screen goes dim and nothing else happens.
2. I do CTRL-ALT-DEL and get a Blue Screen with the notice about the
system waiting.
3. I press RETURN to go back to the Desktop and nothing happens.
4. At that point the system is completely frozen and I have to turn
off the power.

Any ideas about how I can fix this will be appreciated

Dave,

This registry has helped many, but not all, people with similar problems:

http://aumha.org/downloads/shutmedown.zip

Download and unzip.

Right-click the unzipped file and select merge.

Reboot after successfully adding to registry and test.

Useful link:

Good luck,

Zee
