My question would be "Who are these so called experts?" Most of what I saw
was simply a replication of the hype from the RegCure web page. Never
having heard of it or used it, I cannot give an opinion. However, based on
what little I have seen, I would be double throw down skeptical until I have
heard from someone of repute that has hands on experience over a period of
time (more than one instance of cleaning). Personally, I would consider the
jury still out.

Like any loaded gun, it is safe in the hands of an expert (but then an
expert probably wouldn't touch it with a barge-pole)
A quick look on a search for regcure ratings gave this:

34 stars out of a possible 80 is rather poor. That is in the 2 stars
out of 5 range.

Hello:

The following review on Download3000 caught my eye and makes me suspicious
of RegCure:

"Free download scam
Will download for free and scan but you will need to purchase in order for
the program to delete bad files- will not remove anything in the free
download, ..."

I have read good things about EasyCleaner (freeware) and have had no
troubles with it. See:

Although, I don't think it does a registry backup before cleaning, so I
would create a system restore point before doing a cleaning.

And CCleaner has recently been discussed here, pro and con.

In answer to the "wise-cracks":
I found this somewhere "in my store" and it looked decent to me on the
surface,
so I figured, why not 'ask the experts in lieu of searching for it.
If nothing else, it helped keep this group alive, didn't it?

There is a version of ccleaner that I wouldn't go past for winme. I
trust it more than most regcleaners but regcleaners are in fact reg
mutilators. Just make a separate partition for storing files and
installing
programs, have ME on on the first partition (C:) at around 3 gigs, and
when your system goes bad simply reinstall windows and have it fixed
faster than you can get responses to your questions or download junk
programs that do more harm than good. Also a chance to update programs
while you are at it.
