    - Windows Explorer Problems At various times while running Windows ME, the screen will lock up and I have to press ALT-CTL-DEL and wait a few seconds for Windows Explorer to indicate it is "not responding". When that happens, I then End Task and it refreshes the screen. This is happening at least every other day and there is no common event, can happen when I'm in a program or just with the desktop.     - Temp files When I turn on my computer my firewall tells me a temp file is attempting to access the internet (outbound). How can I trace these and find out exactly what they are? It is a different site each day i.e. FQL5275.TMP. If I try and open one it says it may be dangerous to my computer so I haven't tried that. I can delete individually, but I have such a build up now. the problem is the restricted area symbol at the bottom of the cookie page.     - Kidnapped "Accessories" Programs. When I booted up today, I went to the 'Accessories' Folder in 'Programs' and there was nothing there. Scandisk, Defrag, Dos Prompt etc are all gone. No problem in rebuilding (except I can't find the Dos Prompt in any windows folders) but what the heck would cause this? Is there a way for full recovery without too much playing around? (That sometimes annoying MsOffice 2000 program ran at boot-up, you know, the one that says it will make your programs run better; could it be the culprit?)     - My PC, keeps restarting On its Own!! Can someone please help me or give some advice on this problem that I am having with my PC. It keeps restarting on its own automaticlly a few minutes after I turn it on. It seems to really do it alot when im trying to download or install something. I thought it might be the blaster worm but I have Windows ME and it it doesn't affect that windows so I've heard. I also thought it might be the Sobig virus but I don;t think its that either since all my emails are scaned before i open them and it was caught. Can some one please help me.     - ME Automatic Update I have Automatic Update enabled. When I turn my PC on each day Windows ME accesses the net to check for updates about 10 mins after switch on. Then it always happens again about 5 mins later. Is this correct and I'm missing something? I've looked at Automatic Update settings and Scheduled Tasks, and there's nothing obvious wrong. But there is an item called "PCHealth Scheduler for Data Collection" in Scheduled Tasks. Might this be anything to do with it and is it necessary / worth having? TIA...     - ME install over itself After my ISP Comcast service man left, change started showing up on my computer, like Windows Explorer will no show files, even when selected in View, but other choices, like history, favorite, etc. will Local computer forum told me to 'fluff' my ME by reinstalling it over itself. This message just started to appear after I downloaded Norton Antivirus 2004 and it ran its prescan before installing after restarting the computer I now get this message: Rundll32 has caused an error in <unknown> Rundll32 will now close. If you continue to experience problems try restarting your computer. Once this message appears if I try clicking on anything it will not launch - I am at a loss. I tried System Restore and it does not do anything either. I am able to open the computer in Safe Mode but I can not get to the internet in this mode etc. I can I solve this error message as quickly and safely as possible.     - Mprexe caused exception in 03h module We ran disk fragmenter on Saturday 10/25. It ran fine, and computer was fine afterward. Upon booting up this morning, my mother had this error message, and many others, pop up and windows me will not start. All she gets is her background screen. My mother is not computer literate, so I will have to go up and fix it. How can I fix this error? We have a backup emergency disk, but not the original CDrom for windows me, it was lost.     - Intermittent OE mail send problem Starting recently, I often cannot send email using Outlook Express (receiving works fine). I get a message that it "cannot connect to the server." Sometimes, mail IS sent with no problem. Roadrunner has assured me that it is not a problem with them.     - Cursor Temporarily Freezes When I point and click on a link my screen often temporarily freezes for 15 seconds or so after I click and then the page finally downloads. My keyboard is acting screwy. -arrow keys are nonfunctional, except for left arrow which is now "backslash". -insert, home, delete, end, pageup, and pagedown are all apparently nonfunctional. -keypad generally works except: "-" key is now "*", "*" is nonfunctional, numlock doesn't turn off, "+" is also now "*", and "Enter" is now "+".     - scanpm.exe Today, my computer starting running scan disk over and over again. A tool bar appeared out of nowhere that shows a "scanpm" and scanpm.exe file. I can't seem to get rid of it and my computer keeps crashing. I ran scandisk standard check in safemode. When I tried to run a thorough check, it said that it keeps restarting because a program is running in the background. I can't figure out what is running. I also ran McAfee in safemode to check for viruses. It found no infected files. Then,I tried to do a system restore, but it said there was insufficient space.     - Programs take long time to start When I startup the computer, and after WinMe starts, sometimes it takes like 30 sec. for ZoneAlarm, and then my internet connection s/w to start. And it's not only that, another fps game I have, and another program or two, sometimes take 30sec-1min to start. No activity during these periods.     - Problem with e-mail I am hoping someone can help me. I did a virus scan on my computer the other day and had a win32.Benny.6382. Mcafee was little help but now my scan is coming up clean EXCEPT when I do a free one on line. But now when I go to my outlook express I get a message that says MSIMN has caused an error in kernel32.dll. Msimn will now close. I can't send e-mails and i don't have anytime to read e-mails before that message comes up. I went through my HP help icon but I get an error that says HTTP error 404 and my virus scan icon comes on about suspious activity.
