Time And Date problem
Yes I love Windows Millinium,however I have a problem with
my Time. It always shows it to be AM<even when it should
be Pm,When I try to fix the problem I get a messege that
states((( An error occured whilee working with the control
panel file ( C:\Windows\System\Timedate.cpl)Can some one
tell me what to do?

With Win Me as OS, at Windows update after scan it says
that I need IE 6 service pack and Direct X 9.0b ens user
runtime, however I have neither of those on my system. I
still have IE 5.5 SP2, and DX 8.1 or 8 something, cant

Somebody is spoofing
I recently received five email rejects from AOL that seem to have originated
from my system and OE at first glance.
However, the versions for OE and OLE do not match my systems. The addressees
are not in any address book on my system. There are (according to current
virus scanners and some other email related utilities) no applications or
trojans on my system that can cause such a thing.
What is even more interesting is that I currently do not normally send mail
via MSN, due to my cable IP's port blocking.
(A very small number of messages were sent out thru the MSN hotmail
selection during a recent pop3/passport outage earlier in the week. )
The cable IP mail server does not appear in the header information.
It looks like someone sent stuff to AOL users, spoofed my address and the
MSN mail server.
Is anyone else having this sort of problem? Or, is this (I hope) an isolated

This morning I got an e-mail supposedly from microsoft
telling me to download the attached security update but
even to there was an attachment symbol there was no
attachment, just instructions how to download it. It was
supposed to be the Aug 1st cumulative patch. I went
directly to the Microsoft site and it says I have all the
updates available. None are Aug 1st. Should I just delete

Outlook Express?
Hello I am truely wanting help with Outlook. I click on
the OE icon & Outlooks main screen opens but then the hour
glass just hangs there. Any advice? I cannot get into my
inbox, sent items or any folders for that matter that are
within OE. I have to use atl, ctrl, delete to close OE...
I am running windows ME & the latest version of Windows.

I want to have the startup process include a request for a
password. I have the computer connected to a router for a
small network. When I start the computer, it doesn' ask
for a password but goes directly to the normal desktop
display. I have to then log-off and back on to get the
password screen to come up and which then allow access to
the network.
Is there a way to set it up to allow access to the network
upon the initial startup?

I just did a windows update, and it said to reboot my
machine. When my computer starts I get this message:

It repeats this over and over and won't allow me to get
past this page.

scan disk with each startup
Each time I startup my pc a thorough scan disk runs before
anything will load in. This takes much time and is
useless because it never finds any problems. The message
with the scan disk is "windows noticed an improper
shutdown", even though the shutdown was done correctly.

trip. When I returned home, my little brother had

crash. I just reinstalled windows me, and I would like to

WidowsME Crashing when computer is idle & previous posts. HELP
Hi
I posted general crashing problems re ME about 10 days ago. I get a whole
variety of error messages, ranging from page faults to general protection
errors.
As I wrote before, I have performed a clean install (about 6 times on my
friends computer). The installation gave no error messages and seemed fine.
I think people found it difficult to help me because of the lack of any
pattern in the error messages. After the last clean install, ME crashed even
before I had chance to install the chipset drivers & video drivers.
I have now noticed a slight pattern. Although the computer will crash at any
time, I have noticed that it crashes when left idle with just the desktop
on. A typical error message at this point is: Error OE: 0028 : 0070042B. I
have checked the memory with DocMemory and also checked that the module is
seated securely in its socket. I followed up the one suggestion that was
made in this N/G and ran the computer from the EBD and left the help files
on screen to see whether it was an overheating problem. It did not crash. It
will however crash when started in Safe Mode. Selective start-up is of no
help. All devices are working OK in device manager and no problem devices
are shown in system inf. I have the standby and power down settings, set to
never in windows and set to user defined in the BIOS.
I just cant think of anything else to try in order to get this computer
working for my friend.

When I press Windows+Pause Break, bringing up the General
Tab on System Properties, it shows under "registered
to..." that the computer is registered in my name.
However, since buying my computer, I have changed my name
by deed poll :) Thus, I would like to change the name that

Missing MRCI.VXD
I have a customized, preinstalled Windows Me OS without
disk. I posted my various problems in the setup forum but
did not really receive help. I have also reinstalled the
OS once but have same reocurring problem.

I have freezing problems, VMM (01) and VMM (12) errors,
like the one listed above.
I have already run scandisk thorough many times! Along
with scanreg fix and others. This has not solved the
problem. I read in some post about a boot log analyzer. I
used the analyzer and noticed these two specific failures:

Dynamic load failed : C:\WINDOWS\system\MRCI.VXD
[00176B85] File not found
I also have a 0E : 0028 : 0000005C Error
along with a short list more issues.

Windows ME won't shut down
I can't get my Windows ME to shut down. I get all the way
to the blank screen, but the system continues to chug
away, and will never turn off. I can wait overnight even.
If I just turn it off, when I turn it back on, it goes
through the scandisk saying I had an improper shutdown.
Anyone know the solution to this. Please don't say to

Start up Message
When I first set up my P.C with WinMe I tried to install Boot Magic
unsuccessfully. Now everytime I boot up I get the following message
on a black screen...
Error finding BTMagic.img
Rub Boot Magic Install
Press any key to activate Partition.
If I press a key it boots up fine, but it's getting a little bit
annoying.
Can someone please advise where the computer is getting this
instruction and how I can delete?

Help Ctr Error
Over the past month, whenever I try to use "Help", I
receive an almost completely white screen with an
unfinished blue line and the message "The initialization
of the Help Center failed. Please report the following
error number to Microsoft support: - 2147143678". How do
I report this to Microsoft without having to pay for a
long distance phone call?
Every so often, when I'm using the computer a box will pop
up with the message: "Help Ctr has caused an error in
KERNEL32.DLL. If this continues, try restarting your
computer".

SWAP File partition?
Using partition magic to partition my new (added) HDD. It doesn't address
this issue. Should I assign the swp file to its own partition, and if so,
should/must it be a "logical" partition? or better off keeping it in my C:
(primary) partition. And how about swap file size... about double the size

Windows Setup fails to add component
I recently reformatted the hard drive on my Dell laptop
3800. Im using WinME and cannot get any of the components
to install i.e. acessories, system tools. I want to add
the calculator primarily but nothing else loads. After
selecting the desired component and hitting APPLY or OK
windows says it needs the WinME disk to proceed to copy
files from "C:\WINDOWS\options\cabs". I insert the disk
and nothing changes. Should I reinstall or ?

windowsME freezing
I recently had problems with my windows ME and took it in
to get worked on. The man that worked on it said I was
lucky that I hadn't had problems sooner. He said some
people were getting a newer version free because this
program gave them so many problems. Could I possibly get a
newer version? How do I get it to stop freezing on me. The
computer is not talking to the printer and I can't print

ddhelp has caused an error in rvdd32.dll
everytime i try to open media player, intervideo windvd or

the PC restarts. The second time I go to Shut Down, the
