My Computer is 5 years old and recently I have heard a click(s) when the
hard drive is accessed. Not too sure if it is the start of a hard drive
problem but I want to be up to speed on how to replace this existing drive.
Will the information in KB 166172 Duplicating Windows 95/98/98 Second
Edition Installation to a New Hard Disk. (Method 2) work for WindowsME?

It should do.
Although personally I would take the opportunity to have a clean install on
the new disk and only install the applications I want now. Thus getting rid
of the five years worth of junk.

Put the old drive in as a slave so that you can transfer all user files to
the new drive before wiping the old drive.

You will of course need to download all the updates etc.

Hope that makes sense,
Martin

FWIW, I agree with Martcmd>

If you really want to clone your existing installation to the new HD, use
the utility from the manufacturer's website (for the new HD) for the
purpose.
