I have removed an application deleted the folder and
searched any ramnants of application in the registry.
When I restart the computer the "registry entries"
with deleted folder references comes back into
the registry.
I tried by reinstalling it but every time I restart the
computer the "original registries" come back.
Any help would be appreciated.

Knowing the name of the application would help.

Gary
It is WinImage Ver 6.1

If I try to correct the "path name" in the registry the
old path name (the deleted folder) entries in
registry come back. The folder is not there.

To make sure I have it right (and for others who may have specific knowledge
of WinImage), this is what you did:

1. Uninstalled WinImage using Add/Remove Programs.
2. Removed the app's program folders.
3. Cleansed the Registry of references to the app and its folders.

The below suggests that you've now reinstalled the app to a different
directory? Is that true?Or, when you say "correct the "path name"", do you
mean you simply delete that reference?

To be honest, I'm not familiar with that app, so I can't suggest what may
remain hidden that is restoring the REG entries, but are they actually
causing errors?

OK, I'm going to run this on my test machine, which I just happen to be
installing right now. What are the specific Registry entries you're talking
about? Which keys/values?

OK, the culprit is WIN.INI. There's a whole section called "Extensions" that
you should delete (the whole section). But first, delete all the extensions
named there from HKEY_Classes_Root, and then delete the following key:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Extensions

OK, upon re-reading the previous, I have to wonder what you tried to change
any of those entries to. They should all just be deleted, as long as we're
talking about all those Extensions entries.

Thanks Gary,
I did not have the same exact problem, but found entries in win.ini and
registry left behind when I uninstalled pptviewer and later installed ppt
with office.
