I have a dual-boot system with Windows ME on drive C and Windows XP on drive
D.

I want to do a clean re-install of Windows ME on my C drive, without losing
access to my Windows XP.

How do I need to go about? Which boot files do I need to keep?

It isn't quite that easy. When you reinstall WindowsMe it will kill the
Windows XP boot files, and there's nothing you can do to prevent that from
happening. What you CAN do first is to study up on the use of the Windows
XP Repair Console, make sure you can boot from your Windows XP CD and access
the Repair Console, then study more on the FIXBOOT command. Only when you
are fully satisfied that you understand all of the above should you proceed.

Probably not. The only safe way is the way I outlined.
