I have set a mail rule to Delete From Server any message containing the word
"Vicodin" in the body of the message. Anyone know why I'm still getting
SPAM with this word in the message?

Outlook Express 6 and Windows ME
I can't get Outlook Express to connect. My ISP helpline
say they can't help as my Windows version, ME, does not
support Outlook Express 6. Is this true?

Error message
When ever I turn on my PC I get an error message of
OE:19:BFF7B018, then it say to return to windows click
enter which doesn't do any good. I then click
Crtl+Alt+Del, then it goes to safe mode from ther i have
to close safe mode then do a scandisk. then I restart my
pc so I can sign on to windows the aol. I have tryed to
find out what this error is but noone knows what it means
I hope you can tell me.

Errors in Win ME
I'm having no luck adding a printer to my Windows ME
machine. When I double-click on the "Add Printer" icon in
the Printers folder, absolutely NOTHING happens.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where to start? I've
done basic system maintenance, removed unnecessary
programs, killed all unnecessary processes, and it still
won't go.
Also, I don't know if this might be related (it only
happens in Outlook 2002): When I start Outlook, I get
this error: "The add-in "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MOCIEXT.DLL"
could not be found or loaded.". Has anyone ever seen this
before? I find no reference to this error in the MS
Knowledge Bases articles.
Maybe the two problems are related. If anyone has any
ideas I would appreciate it if you could share them with
me!

Quicken Deluxe 2004 causes general protection fault
Just upgraded from Quicken 2003 Basic to Quicken 2004
Deluxe. When in Planning report mode, every time I
click 'Done' my computer crashes with "Windows An error
has occurred.... Error:0E:016F:BFF8E64B" The fault log
varies from "QW has caused a general protection fault in
module KRNL386.EXE at 0002:000031a0" to "QW caused a
general protection fault in module USER.EXE at
000a:00002009 or 001f:00002ff6a". I have run thorough
ScanDisk, Run thorough virus check, uninstalled Quicken
and re-installed in Safe Mode, created a new test file -
still experience the problem every time - also a couple
other random operations within Quicken have caused crash,
such as printing a report.
Any help? Quicken website is useless. Wish I'd bought

I've just recently downloaded adaware. It helped with other faults except
for this one. Other things that have caused this fault are ZCLIENT,
WSCRIPT, TAPISRV, NDETECT, and MSNMSGR. They are all at the same place

Help! Scandisk/Defrag now runs only in safe mode?
ME Guru's. Outta nowhere, I can't run through scandisk
unless I boot up from the safe mode. Even with everything
showing clear but "Explorer" and "Systray" in programs,
and with the PC booted with all the boxes checked in
the "General" category under "System Configuration
Utility", it won't complete. It just keeps bombing out
with messages that it restarted too many times. If I turn
off the warning and let it continue, it appears not to be
getting anywhere after an hour. xxx's oooo's

Ok.. Windows wont let me install anything. Everytime i try
to install software, the infamous blue screen pops up and
gives me this error:

Systems Files
I am trying to install a Trust Digital Camera and I have
loaded the drivers from the supplied disc.
When Windows detects the hard ware on my computer there

norton 2000 ME and outlook
anybody have problems with norton configuring outlook and changing the
settings of the smpt and user names and not being able to download , it keep
prompting for password and username add.../domain.net to end of user name
and I have to change settings back and delete the /domain.net to get mail
and it does not scan incoming mail.

receiving incoming news messages through my delete box
I am a mailing list member of different lists such as,
NFLD-ROOTS-L@rootsweb.com, NFLD-LAB-L@rootsweb.com, CAN-
NFLD, ngb_info@chebucto.ns.ca etc. I post messages such
as "Obituaries, Birth Announcements, Tidbits of info. on
NFLD history etc. to all lists on a daily basis, but I
must have made an error with my own email address to all
lists as all of my postings to each list come to me
through my "Deleted box", but apparently the lists are
receiving it ok, but not me, all of my own postings return
to my delete box instead of my "inbox"
Could you please direct me to the source of the problem.I
did block my own email address by mistake, but
clicked "remove" in the "block senders list", but it still
did not solve the problem. I would grately appreciate any
and all assistance.

GWS.dll and Kernel32.dll
Whenever I try to use any startup items or click on items
in the desktop I get an error message concerning explorer
and GWS.dll that says it cant be found and I should
restart computer.. also the kernel32.dll error will appear
in some programs.. anyone with any assistance it would be
greatly appreciated. The computer is a firehouse computer
and I really need to get this problem solved if possible..

What is the Microsoft Queue Manager that attempts to
access the internet when I boot up? I am running Windows
ME but not MSN. The only thing I found in the
Knowlegebase had to do with MSN.

Restoring removed program files
My husband accidentally removed a very important program
through the add/remove programs. Is there any way we can
get the program back? We have the original disk but

Slow IE 5.5 [Part 2]

Slow IE 5.5
Recently, without any notice or warning,
my IE 5.5 (running on WinME) has become as slow as a sloth.
If I type something in a form or address bar,
it takes forever for a single letter to come out.
I downloaded IE 5.5 service pack 2 from MicroSquish,
and successfully installed it, but it didn't help at all.
NO OTHER PROGRAM HAS THIS PROBLEM!!!
While I'm on the net,
I can use ANY other program (Eudora, Free Agent, Word, etc, etc, etc),
with NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER!!!!
I've cleaned up my temp files, cookies, etc,
run scandisk and defrag,
run thorough anti-virus scans,
and rebooted just before hooking up to the net
(i.e., IE is the 2nd thing that comes up
after the connection is made).
I tried download IE 6.0,
but I kept getting interrupted (this was at 3 in the morning!),
and when it finally completed after numerous attempts,
it failed to setup properly!
I like IE 5.5 (until now!),
and am wondering if anyone has had the same problem
and knows of a solution.

kernel32 error
I have gotten a kernel32 error in KRNL386.exe and my
computer has totally locked up. Tried to shut down with
no success. Even turned it off overnight and it just
restores windows to the same screens and nothing will

Can't delete a file
Greetings. I was transfering data files from my old
computer to my new one via zip drive. When I loaded it,
there was apparently only one file, a doc file, that lost
its extention in the process. I want to delete it, but
can't; every time I try to do so, I get this
message: "Error Deleting File or Folder. Cannot delete
file: Windows in unable to find the file. This item might
have already been deleted or moved. Press F5 to refresh
the view of this folder". I press F5. but nothing
happened. I tried to do everything I could to delete it,
but nothing works. I cannot even take it out of it's
folder. I am able to put this folder in the Redycling
Bin; however, when I then right click on it to empty it, I
get a message stating "Cannot delete ***(the file).
Cannot find the specified file." What can I do? Thank

recycle bin not showing deleted items
My recycle bin has 49 items in it when I press (emty recycle bin)
nothing is showing in the list and it sais that there are no
listings in the recycle bin. When deleting anything it always
asks "are you sure you want to delete?" I press yes but no
showings in the recycle bin..
I searched the news groups but was unable to find an aswer.
I am running windows ME.
I do not know when this problem started so doing system restore I
don't know how far to go back.

MDAC 2.8 = problems
I installed MDAC 2.8 (because I couldn't get WU to stop trying to patch 2.1)
and ever since I have had some small problems with secure web sites;
problems
shutting down and booting up (keep having 8192 bytes lost fragment).

Copying graphics in Outlook Express
I use stationery in my Outlook Express and since I
downloaded the lates security updates, I cannot send out a
stationery with repeated graphics. The first graphic is
there, but the rest are red xs. How can I correct this

winme and cmdninst
Hi,
I am new to ME. I changed my video adapter and when rebooting my
firewall(kerio) was asking permision for cmdninst to access ip
81.52.249.46 port 80. I looked this IP up and see that it is owned by
the RIPE Network. I have alway blocked this IP range in my spam
filters for email as it is notorius for spam origins. Why would
cmdnisnt be looking to converse with this server? Should I allow or
disallow this conversation? why?

Conflict: Classical Solitaire & NSW 2004 Pro
I have just installed Norton SystemWorks 2004 Professional and Norton
Personal Firewall 2004 over their corresponding 2003 versions (according
to Symantec's instructions).
All seemingly went well. However, I find that ME's Classical Solitaire
no longer functions (other games seem OK). Using Ctrl+Alt+Delete to
remove the program "Csinject" allows Classical Solitaire to function
normally. Although Csinject existed in previous NSW versions, this
problem did not occur.
Symantec recommends disabling Csinject whenever I wish to play
solitaire!!!

Address Book
I was attempting to use the address book that comes with
the accesories group under windows ME. to do a mail merge.
I attempted that manuever and was told I could not use it
to do a mail merge. When I cancelled the transaction, my
entire "contacts" directory was somehow lost. When I quit
word and simply went to the address book, it showed an old
contacts list which I was sure I deleted.
I thought maybe my valid list was somehow tossed into the
re-cycle bin, but no, it's not there either.

SEARCH- For Files and Folders
Windows ME.
There were several postings (including mine) from people for whom
Start -Search- For Files and Folders does not work.
Goggle search I did this morning produced this:

Well. It works.
I further found that you can go to ANY folder in Windows Explorer (Does not
have to be MY Documents) , press F3 and Search dialogue comes on. You can
also go to MyComputer ( icon on Desktop) - press F3 and the search dialogue
comes on (and works). The only place F3 does not work for me is Desktop.
Question to the experts: what stops it from working from Start- Search?
Note : Several responses suggested to tick Tweak UI - Desktop- Search
Results.
It does not work for me. Are there different versions of Twaek UI?

When I log on I get a message that something is wrong with

When you install WindowsME, if you do not put a password
in the initial login screen it should not display
again...Well, I do not have a password but the dialogue

can't download updates
I try to download the critical update patch and it appears
to start the download and shows all files downloading but
then it doesn't go any further. It just sits on the screen
saying download time is..... I have left this sit for

message not understood when displayed
Greetings. I can't find my post, so I'm reposting this.
Every time I boot up my computer, I get a small window
that states "The device is not ready. Please try again
later"; my NAVP detects nothing. Please let me know. One
time my MFC drivers would not work, and DC ROM Drive would
not open; I had to shut down my computer and kill the
power for about 1 minute, and then boot up, to finally get
them all to work again. Please let me know. Thank you.

install several critical updates including SP-1. The download goes fine but
when it starts to install it says a previous install was unsuccessful and do

how to tell history of children's computer usage
Hi, I have a son who is on computer restriction. He knows
how to delete internet history. Is there a way for me to
track which programs he may use when I am not around, with
the time used? Can I even tell when the computer was
turned on? Is there a way to disable his ability to
delete internet history (which many parents would
appreciate as a feature)?

automatic windows update
I am running windows ME and microsoft is sending me to
their update site when i connect to internet.
due to all the virus Emails I am getting I want to
personalize the update site settings but am unable to do
so.
I have followed all the instructions to do this;
changed internet options in miscellaneuos to enable and
have deleted the oWindowsupdate file that was in
C\windows\ApplicationData\microsoft\Internet etc.
however can still not personalize the update site.
i want to be able to see what has been installed and what
there is to install and make my own choices.
I do like the update site just saying that there is an
update and do i want to install. this is not good enough,
I want to know exactly what the update is and why i need
it and what it does.
I am not running anything Norton or anything that should
prevent me from personalizing as far as I know.
Help would be appreciated.

URGENT : Recycle Bin Problem
Hi there, can someone please help with a Recycle Bin problem ?
The problem is that when I send something to the Recycle Bin (as I
always have done), when I then look in the "Recucle Bin" either using
Windows Explorer or the Recycle Bin Icon on the Desktop nothing is
there !
The Recycle Bin Icon shows that there IS something in the bin (i.e.
"litter" is shown in it).
On the "Properties" for Recycle Bin I have the "Display delete
confirmation dialog" ticked.
Windows explorer sees file in all the other location as normal.
I have not altered anything lately but when I deleted by accident a
file last night I realised I could not retrieve it in the usual way.
I have been emptying the recycle bin from the Desktop icon, so I do
not know how long this problem has been there.
I really need to retrieve the file, so I dare not empty the recycle
bin now !
