To clear up the issue of 2541 vs. 8893,
the answer came from Aumha with this explanation:
Spybot treats different OS's differently and the amount of files sent to
WinME is 2541, while WinXP receives 8893.
I am operating under WinME in the proper NG and therefore legal.
All the people with 8893 belong to WinXP - hush - hush <bg>.

Harry.

Harry, what is the AumHa Forums URL where you got this explanation?
I'm not quite sure that the above is 100% accurate...

Or keep us from visiting *home*, Harry.....this will always be our
*home* cuz the XP groups are snarky!!

And 'the boys' here know all about XP, so I think this should be a
transitional group......called *WinME/XP-newbies.

(Damn, I am losing it when I can't spell 'transitional".....had to hit
the spielchucker, which is a rare event for me)

I'm so very pleased to read that you no longer need any help and that you
are now more than happy to trash and repair your system without any
further help from the regulars who post to these NGs.

I think it was the Security General Discussion one Silj he had an answer
from Robear and then one from KB who told him about the differerences.

Aren't we touchy, Mike?
All I tried to point out was, that to address this issue, one must be
running WinME in this particular NG, in order to properly deal with it. It
had nothing to do with helping or whatever, except for clarification of the
number differential.
Can we smoke a 'peace pipe' together?

Harry.

Spybot, Spywareblaster, et al isn't a welcome discussion at XP General.
Only Defender.

Seems to me that this *issue* has absolutely NOTHING to do with WinME,
something that should really be discussed in a Spybot forum.

He, I was just kidding and for the relevance of WinME vs. Sybot, it was just
the number of definitions files, which is different for WinXP and I didn't
realize, but was important with regard to my query, that's all.
