    - How do I Purge Temp Files? One suggestion I read on speeding up Win ME is to Purge Temp Files. It says to locate it by clicking on My Computer and then Pressing Ctrl + A to clear everything then press Delete. Then answer Yes to all Yes/No questions. What I am not to clear on is how to find the Temp File. I tried searching for c:\Windows\Temp and I get a list of files in Windows Temp. Is this the right one? Any help would be appreciated.     - me problems This I'm sure is probably an old and common problem, never the less it's still a problem for me. Several weeks or maybe month's ago, I had a computer crash. The ME os has never been the same since...not that it was that great to start with mind you. Anyway, ever since this happened, the machine has never been the same. I have run all the necessary anti-virus programs and spyware removal tools. The system still continues to hang, eat system resources so quick it will make your head spin, and now, it hangs on most internet web sites when I try to click on a link (internet explorer). Additionally, I receive all kinds of different error messages, run time errors, kernel errors and so on. I have since been using Netscape to navigate through internet web sites and well, the other (system resources) is just plain ridiculous. What to do ????? I have gone through and deleted any unwanted or suspicious programs from the add/remove programs. I have reduced the start-up programs to the minimum. Don't know what else to do......... I am unable to enable my system restore..when I go to "system/performance/file system/troubleshooting" the 'disable system restore' box is checked, when I uncheck it and then reboot, it is checked again when I boot up.     - Desktop Icons Rearranging After Startup Hi, I'm having some trouble with WinME. For 4 years, no issues. My desktop icons 'were' scattered (logically for me) all over my desktop. I boot up a day or so ago and they automatically all lined up alphabetically starting down the left side. Updated and ran Norton 2004, Spy Bot-Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware, no issues or problems found. I've been scouring the web looking for assistance. Most people suggest deleting the shelliconcache hidden file in the Windows directory. Did that and rebooted, they still lined up. Rearrange them the way I wanted, rebooted, and they still lined up. So I tried adding the Max Cached Icon registy value as many people suggest, set it to 2000 and went thru same process. Icons still lined up. Any other solutions I can try?     - ME Windows Folder Problem I am having a problem with accessing the windows internal files folder through My Computer or Windows Explorer. The only way I can access the windows folder is by opening the Control Panel and opening the Fonts folder, then I can click up one folder to view the contents and access the Windows files folder, yet when I clock up again to the Drive folder window, the Windows folder is not there, not accessable. Nor is it visible or accessable in the Windows Explorer or when I open the drive file folder where it has normally been. I have the folder properties programed to see hidden folders so it has not been hidden, there seems to have been a glitch in the computer. I clicked "check for updates" and I get the window: "An update for the SpywareBlaster program is available but cannot be downloaded through this updater.     - freezing from insufficient memory Compaq 1.4MGH, 1 gig of ram, Windows ME After a fresh start up with a system performance at 94% my computer now freezes after opening as little as MY COMPUTER. I tried to rerun ME to freshen up my system but get the warning message Insufficient conventional memory to run this program. try shuting down other programs to free up some. There is nothing else running including antivirus or firewall. I have to cold boot to restart because start/restart or start/shutdown does not work. I have been getting a black screen with inproper start up and had to resort to the boot up disk to restart which also failed sometimes. I feel it is my western harddrive failing after so many blue screens in the past two years. I ran the free avg updated virus software and it says no viruses. I have been running diskscan and defrag too regularly almost daily for a long time thinking that was a good thing. I could do a thorough scan in an hour instead of 14 hours when I first bought the computer. I am about to use the restore disks from Compaq which will wipe out many unreplaceable software programs and return to factory condition or put in a new hard drive.     - VMM32.VXD and no disk I was finally getting around to copying some files from my old tower for transfer. In the midst of it my computer(hp xg833) shut down. When it came up, it didn't load fully. It said file missing-vmm32.vxd and I couldn't get the computer started up in any mode. I went to find the start-up disk for my computer and it had apparently been broken in the move a year and a half ago. I am now trying to find either a solution that does not require the disk or a fresh copy of my start up disk. When I contacted HP they bounced me back to Microsoft. Thank you in advance for any help.     - Many errors... One solution? I own a Dell laptop (specs follow) that connects through a networked DSL modem. I am using it right now, in fact. A few weeks ago, the computer was suddenly infected with spyware after my son installed Gnutella lite on it. as if uninstalling three searchbars and 93 data miners wasn't enough, they (I suppose) caused my linksys WPC54G wireless network card to go haywire, disconnecting me from the network for two weeks before I was able to set it straight. But even now, it is still not working correctly, as the configuration utility is seeming to not want to communicate to the card, even after multiple reinstallations. Added on to that, multiple system DLLs have been corrupted or something, since the Open/Save/Print dialog box is not opening and explorer(AKA to all the techies as the Shell) is freezing every so often upon startup. One suggestion I have read on speeding up my computer is to Purge Temp Files.

It said to have all programs closed then click on My Computer then on Temp
Files. Once there Hold down the Ctrl button + A to choose everything. Then
press delete to clear.

What I am not clear is how to get to Temp Files? I searched for
c:\windows\temp. I got a list of all files in windows temp. I am quite sure
that is the right place but I am not sure.

Any help would be appreciated.
