Does anyone know if I have a problem?

The controller I plugged in sees my 5.4GB Maxtor hard disk, but does not see
my brand new 60GB hard disk. I was told that my PCI slot had to be 2.1
compliant. Which I assume it *is* since it sees the smaller hard drive.

But.... I Could be wrong.

FWIW, I do not know if my system is 2.1 compliant.

I am running Windows ME

It is P200 MMX.

Thanks.

Oh and yeah, I have master/slave set up, it could be the power cable, but
that's the only open end I have, and I have some skills in this area so that
I haven't done something too stupid.

The card came with a different hard drive and I never used it because it
seemed to --- for some unknown reason --- create some bad memory leak
problem with an old DOS application that the wife uses for work. So I had it
left over.

Check the Promise Web site and make sure the controller can handle a 60GB drive.
Also, see if the controller's FirmWare can be flashed with a new BIOS.

Thanks Dave, for the response, but the card came with a 160GB drive, so I'll
assume it will handle the smaller 60GB. I have the archived drivers, and
will load them onto the test system. But I doubt that does it.

OK you had not mentioned the 160GB hard disk.

So what is special about the 60GB drive ?

Not special. I'm just concerned that the 2.1 compliance thing is a problem.
If the slot has to be 2.1 and it's not, the card may not be able to see the
new drive. But I don't know. That's the question. Sorry if I was difficult
to read.

Nevermind.

Bad plug. Didn't look it, but didn't work. All's well.
