Hello.

I have a situation where a program started from the desktop, start menu,
or from within its Program Files directory will start but move
immediately to the taskbar, as minimized, and cannot be restored to use.
I have tried to right-click on the taskbar and tile horizontally. I
have tried all the other context menu choices but have been unsuccessful
thus-far.

Any suggestions on this problem and remedy?

Thanks in advance!

PB

Is this a particular program - or all programs??
What did you change on the system immediately prior to the effect?

What happens in Safe Mode??

The offending program is a .NET custom application. I am a support
person and do not know the safe mode answer and cannot answer until I
visit the user location again. Further, there were no changes to the
hardware or software prior to the onset of this problem. My primary
goal in this posting is to collect any knowledge "out there" to be
better prepared to resolve this problem.

Thanks!

Assuming that this is a one-program problem, then I would think that a
better place to ask your question would be either the .NET newsgroups or
the programs writers.

microsoft.public.dotnet.framework

is as good a starting point as any.

In addition to Noel's comment, the option to run an app "Minimized" at
startup is usually found in the Preferences section of the apps
configuration options.
With your custom .Net app, PB, this may have been inadvertently hard-coded,
and the programmer may be the only one able to easily fix this quirk.

I can use these suggestions. However, the application [was] operating
as expected and just "suddenly" began to misbehave. Removing and
re-installing has not corrected the problem. There are no registry
entries for this application other than the basic entry to have it
installed on the Start Menu and such, that is, no screen metrics have
defined registry entries. That is where I am at just now.

Again, many thanks.

If "the application [was] operating as expected and just "suddenly" began to
misbehave" has only occurred *recently* (past few days or so) AND you
haven't done much else to your machine, you could try running System Restore
and roll-back to the last time BEFORE it started to misbehave.
