When I try to run windows update I get the following error. It states to
check the time on my PC but I've done that and the time is correct. Any
help would be appreciated. Thanx.

"Windows Update Error

Windows Update has encountered an error. This may be due to a discrepancy in
your computer's time setting.

To check your date and time setting:

On the taskbar, double-click the time.
Verify that the date and time is correct.

You can also get online support if you are having problems with Windows
Update.

Send error number to Microsoft (0x800C0008)
Note This sends error information but does not create a support incident;
you may or may not receive a response."

Darren,

Is the Date correct ? What error code is listed for this failed attempt
to access Windows Update in the Windows Update.log found in the WINDOWS
folder ? ( The log file can be opened with Notepad )

http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/
Under : Problem reaching Windows Update
See : Scan quickly reaches 100% and displays ?There are no updates
available? message / log file lists error 0x800C0008 or 0x80072EE4

Scan your system for unwanted "guests" here :
http://www.aumha.org/a/noads.htm

If they are on your system, read this :
Anti-Parasite Quick-Fix
http://www.aumha.org/a/parasite.php#quickfix

If no unwanted "guests" are causing this SSL issue :
Open Internet Options via the Control Panel. Click the Connections tab,
then the LAN Settings button. Make sure that neither boxed is checked
under Automatic Configuration.
Now click the General tab, then the Languages button. Ensure that a
language has been chosen for IE.

Try this too :

Did you scan your system for parasites ?
Did you try this too ?

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=830066

Have you installed the February Cumlative Patch for IE yet ?
( Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer (832894) )
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/Bulletin/MS04-004.asp

If this behavior came up after installing the above patch, try this :
