Well, believe it or not, Google answered my question regarding Real Player
and the Google bar:

Hi Alias,

Thank you for taking the time to report this problem. We recently released
a new version of the Google Toolbar that resolves the problem you
reported.

Please try uninstalling and reinstalling the Google Toolbar. To do this,
please follow the instructions below.

1. Select 'Settings' from the Windows 'Start' menu.
2. Click on 'Control Panel' and then 'Add or Remove Programs.'
3. Select 'Google Toolbar for IE' and click the 'Remove' button.

Once the Toolbar is uninstalled, please close all Microsoft Internet
Explorer windows. Then, reinstall the Google Toolbar by visiting
http://toolbar.google.com

We appreciate your taking the time to report this crash. Thank you for
using the Google Toolbar.

Regards,
The Google Team

Thank you for your message. This auto-generated email is to confirm that
we received your inquiry.

In order for us to assist you with a question or to utilize your feedback
about the Toolbar, please reply to this message with the following
information:

1. Google Toolbar version number:
To find the version number, please do one of the following: Click on the
'Google' logo button and select 'About Google Toolbar.' Or, click on the
'Google' logo button, select 'Help' and then 'About the Google Toolbar.'
Please send us the entire line containing the version number, including
the four letter suffix.

Version: 2.0.112/big/en (GGLD)

2. Advanced Features settings:
Is your Google Toolbar installed with or without advanced features
enabled? If you've enabled the 'PageRank' or 'Category' button on your
Google Toolbar, then it is running with Advanced Features.

Advanced.

3. Operating System (Windows 98, Windows XP, etc.)

XP Pro

4. Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) version number:
To find your IE version number, go to the IE 'Help' drop-down menu and
click on 'About Internet Explorer.'

6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633

5. List of any other browser plug-ins. This includes Toolbars, Popup
Blockers, and any applications designed for Internet Explorer.

None, although I do have Spywareguard, Spybot, Search and Destroy and
Spywareblaster.

If you've sent us a suggestion, your Toolbar version number is all we
need. Occasionally, we can point out existing Toolbar features you may
have missed.

Needless to say, I am pleased. I much preferred watching Jon Stewart's
Headlines with Real Player.
